Birthday ideas anyone?

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Just got banded on Monday the 15th. B-day is the 21st. My mom asked me today if I knew of anything I could have to Celebrate (since obviously i cannot have cake!!). I thought pumpkin pie, but i looked it up and it doesn't seem healthy. I dunno, I just figured someone out there in the Lapband talk world would have an idea that is acceptable for someone a week out. Thanks!

hi victor, happy bday!!

my mom was a big fan of ricotta pie growing up (big easter dish) - it was so delish, in fact i just might make one this wkend for a diner party...got me thinking.

it should be fine for you if your in the mushie stage, plus has some Protein w/the ricot.

then again, there's always jello....LOL

You CAN make a very healthy pumpkin pie. Just substitute fat free consdensed milk and splenda for the sugar. The eggs and pumpkin are perfect for you. Just don't eat the crust. There's no calories per se in the spices. BUT.... will you be at the mushie stage by then? 6 days out? I was still on full liquids. In that case, decorate a Jello mold!!!

Thank you guys for responding! I will have to try the ricotta, never heard or had anything like it, sounds interesting though!! I did find some healthy recipies for pumpkin pie as well. I think the pumpkin may need to be more "whipped" however. I am tolerating foods pretty well, but I am also being careful as to not rush what I eat. I should be okay with the pumpkin pie though (never liked the crust anyway!! :smile2: ).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
