I'm a ways out, but I eat cereal. As soon as I was allowed "foods as tolerated" I added it back into my diet. I don't remember ever having a problem with it.

I eat cereal with fruit every day. The key is to see if it sticks with you. For some, cereal acts like a mushy food and doesn't keep them full long.

I tend to split my breakfast up into two meals because when I work it's a long day. I drink a latte when I get up at 6am (1.5 cups milk) and cereal with fruit for "breakfast" at 9am morning break.

Just watch your calories and try to pick something that has a good amount of Fiber in it. I eat smart bran or kashi good friends cereal and those easily last me three hours until lunch.

On day 3 post-op my Dr. allows Cream of Wheat thinned with milk (which is what I am having today). I am 3 days out.

Has to be really thin, but hey, it has flavor and I am getting my milk. After 1 week I can have 1/2 cup cheerios, corn flakes, chex with milk and I don't have to wait for them to get mushy. Woo-Hoo. Can't wait.

I am one of the ones that just does not stay as full on cereal. I watch sugars and carbs too so most cereals just aren't the best choice for me. I do have oatmeal when I am on mushies after a fill. If I get hungry I eat Kashi dry as a snack (sometimes with just a little peanut butter)...it is really high in Protein but I think it gets too soggy in milk

I miss the milk, and ready to move back on to getting my milk intake.:crying:

i was never a milk drinker prior to banding - didn't do cereal for that reason, but my tastes have changed drastically & i actually crave milk/diary - every day....and have it.

last night for diner i was craving PB&J and HAD to have a cold glass of milk with it..:wink2: that was SO foreign to me pre-banding!!

You may be lacking in Calcium and/or Vitamin D...

I am experiencing the opposite. Pre-banding I used to gulp milk down all the time. We would go through a least a gallon a week. Now I have not bough milk in weeks because even a quart will go bad before it even gets half used. I stop by 7-Eleven to get single serve bottles when I need it.

I can eat Cereal but I avoid it for the most part.

It used to be a binge food for me, in that I couldn't get enough. It also goes through the pouch too quick and leaves me hungry.

I get hungry if I eat cereal for breakfast, UNLESS its the Kashi Go Lean high Protein cereal, or the Quaker Weight Control instant oatmeal with added protein. The secret is the protein. It helps control the hunger.

I'm 1 month out exactly today and am still advised not to eat cereal yet. The Nurse says its the starch in it that will mess with you. Hender your weight loss and all. I know how you feel about it though, I use to eat cereal, pancakes, or oatmeal for breakfast every morning before being banded and I am so ready for my oatmeal, cereal, and pancakes again. Your Doctor may have different guide lines than mine does so check with him/her before doing it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
