how much Water can you drink a one time. 1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, full cup?

I am so thirsty and I am drinking my Water but I would love to turn it up and just drink the whole bottle.

I'm out 7 days and can only have chicken broth and propel water. (just so you will have that information.

I'm just hoping later that I can at least have a good half a cup at once.

Unless I'm already stuck on food, or am eating, I can drink however much I want. It funnels right on through. Well, most of the time. If I'm extra tight fluids may take a while. For the most part thin fluids such as water, juices, etc. I can drink however much I want, as quickly as I want. I was a chugger pre-op, and while I don't chug quite the same way, I can drink continuously. Hope that makes sense...

I'm pretty bad at drinking and it bugs me quite often. I have found that the temperature of the Water makes a huge difference. I can drink quite a bit (half a bottle) of room temp water in a couple of gulps but only sips of hot or cold drinks. I have to make a concious effort to drink between meals and often catch myself dehydrated.

I got my band 8/29 and have experienced no restriction whatsover. I was told that's common with the new AP lap band. I had probably 32 ounces of Water in the hospital while I was waiting for them to do my thin barium swallow and release me. I haven't ever CHUGGED but I take up to 4 good swallows at a time with no ill effect. I can drink normally. Because I have no restriction and because what I drink is thin liquid, I am not risking hurting my stomach or dislodging the band.

I think unless you feel restriction when you drink that it's safe for you to go ahead and drink fairly normally. My doc's office was pleased that I could and said that was one "improvement" with the newer bands....not as much worry about keeping hydrated. So try it.

Speck, although everyone is different I can tell you my 7 day post op experience. I had a hard time post op getting anything down. It was a good 4 days before I wanted anything. By day 7 I could drink a 16-20 oz water bottle over about 30-45 minutes. I could take several big drinks at first and then drink the rest like a civilized person. I felt like I could chug- but made myself not do it. I am now 6 months out and guzzle down!!!

I've not had any problems drinking Water. I've never been a big gulper, but I can drink as much water as I want at any given time. I usually drink 16 oz in the morning before Breakfast, another 16 oz or more before lunch, and at least 32 oz before I go to bed. I've been able to drink without problem from the get go, and I still am feeling a good restriction from surgery as far as food intake. I'd love to stay this way, but I'm sure the hunger will set in before long.

Hey there! So, after surgery, I was sort of scared to eat or drink. They scare you so much about the vomitting after surgery that I was terrified. HOWEVER, after a week or so, I was drinking normally. It is important NOT to chug because you do not want to swallow too much air. When air gets trapped you can suffer gas pains and/or vomitting. Also - if you haven't done so already, give up soda. It is NOT worth the effort to burp. It is painful and when I have had soda, I usuallly ended up throwing up. I hope that helps!

Wow, I can only drink 2-3 ounces per hour. When I tried more, my chest was killing me.

Take small/tin sips - no more gulping If I take 2 or 3 glups - I get pain even now.. You are still healing only 8 days out..

Oh I don't gulp believe me. I'm saying it takes an hour to sip 2-3 ounces.

Do you know that feeling after a hard workout at the gym and you're sweating and you just turn an ice cold Water bottle up? That's what I want to do. But I know that's not going to happen .

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
