I had my surgery on Sept 5th. So far its been hard on this liquid diet. The only thing that keeps me going is the 20lbs I have lost. For the last 3 days i have not lost anymore weight. I am very frusterated and still have 9 days to go on liquids. Why have a completely stopped losing when I am hungry all the time? Has this happened to anyone else???

I was banded 3rd Sept. I have lost 15 pounds but haven't lost anything for the last five days either. It is not going to happen all at once and at the beginning it is normally fast. I am happy if I lose 4 pounds a month. Don't be discouraged by the scale our lap bands are for life and its not going to all happen at once, you are doing great!

Congratulations on getting your band!!! Don't be overly obsessed with the scale right now... don't weigh more than once a week, on the same day and same time of the day. You will fluctuate and hold some fluids right now as your body adjusts to the diet of just liquids. You may even have a little gain when switching to solids, it s temporary...just stick to the rules and the plan and the weight will some off!!! Keep to your exercise routine, it will help out alot!!!

You are hungry right now because the swelling from the surgery is gone and you will feel less hunger when you get an adjustment on your band!! You are doing great.

Also you are probably not getting enough calories. Try something with some calories. I am not telling you to do this but after a week of my surgury I was so hungry I started eating mashed pot. I didnt eat much just enough to stop me from being so hungry and that added calories and I started losing weight again. Friday will be 4 week post op for me. Just try adding calories!

I got my band on August 27th

A few cooments

-always weight yourself in the morning before taking a shower. you'll see fluctuation for no logical reason...

- dont chase the scale. you just got your band. Patience please.

- yes, before adjustment you will still be able to eat almost anything if you chew a lot but dont do it....you are cheating yourself again!

-I fluctuate between 279 and 288 depending how much liquid and mushie food I consume during the day...I drink a lot of water!!

- Follow your prescribed diet for now until you can get into solids

-I used to be very regular going to the Bathroom. Now it seems I am constipated all the time and therefore I think the fluctuation of weight....My wife said this morning that I am "really full of S...... now"!!! Hard to believe all that waist weight that much (sorry for the explicitive thought)

- Scheduled to have my first fill on the 9th.

- I am still farting a lot!!!:cursing::frown: and I was not one that took pride in doing so.

Dear i havr also same problem i was so upset about my weight.i banded 3 sept i was 97kg now some time i am 92.8 some time sacle show me 92.2 .i am totally confused . i read again about band fill .they said ,you may have lost some weight in these phases due the pre and post oprative fluids ,which allows the band heal .it is eessential 4 you understanding at this time that your weight loss is not due to the band but the restriction we have put on you and your diet. so this is normal and indicates symptoms for your first fill. and i feel its time for my first fill so i will contact my doctor. dont worry about weight u have done very well.best whishes for all who have done lap band ,NIZEE

I too am having a weight lossstall. I was banded August 21st, on my first 2 week post op appointmet I lost 19 lbs, I was thrilled of course, but since then no weight loss, I have stayed the same for 2 weeks. I hear allot about these stalls, I was started on mushies after 2 weeks, and I still take in a least 2 protien shakes a day. I hope this will pass, I was beginning to feel like a failure, and this wasn't going to work for me. I do not weigh myself everyday, because at this point I get to discouraged. I hope this will pass soon, I go in for a fill in 2 weeks, hopefully I will not have gained weight when I go see the MD again

im in the same boat. for the first 10 days or so i lost nearly a pound a day. then when i started mushies, it plateaued...i even gained 2 lbs. back (i figure its Water, as now i dont have constant diarrhea).

i just keep reminding myself that my food consumption is less. and that this is bandster hell. that my first fill should restart the weight loss.

thanks for the reply, gecko! my band has been adjusted 3 times so far...my dr. says that on average it takes 7 adjustments before we are at optimal banding...i cancelled my appt today because i feel like i shouldn't have it adjusted quite yet...i haven't begun exercising which i should, are you? i just want to get rid of it quicker i guess...what are you eating?

I had my band on 9/4.. and have only lost 6 lbs since then. It is very discouraging watching so many report weight just falling off of them while I am plugging along trying to eat enough Protein and the scale isn't moving. AT ALL. I start mushies today, so I hope the calorie increase will kickstart my metabolism and get things melting off me soon! :: sigh::

so, i havent been exercising, aside from the walk to and from my office and here and there on campus. im a graduate student, and with classes having just started and my part-time job, i havent had time. today, however, i will be headed back to curves. hopefully it will help restart the weight loss.

as far as what i eat...a lot of what i ate before, only less. having spent 15 years as a vegetarian, im accostomed to eating hummous, tofu, etc. i have been on a mashed potato kick...ive had them at least every other day. today, for provided lunch, there were sandwiches. so, i just picked the Tomato, onion, cheese and turkey off of the bread.

for me, i think its just going to be a change in quantity that should lead to weight loss. the quality of food ive always eaten isnt crap. i rarely ate fried foods...drank mostly diet sodas...and wasnt a candy addict. yet, no matter how i tried, i was always overweight. in the past, i even tried alli...without success, as it rids the body of calories from fats...which i never really had any excess of.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
