I am now off liquids and on the mushies yippee!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I went to the dietician today and was told to move on to the mushie stage yippee!! After two weeks of the liquid stage Soup and more Soup I am now going to get to eat real food. Tonight I am going to have some bolognese I am so looking forward to that.

I must admit she wants me to have 80% Protein for both lunch and dinner that one is going to be hard as I really don't like a lot off meat.

Sam

Protein doesn't have to be meat. Where do you think vegetarians get it from? Not Calcium either. A variety of legumes, pulses and Beans will give you a good protein intake. Also, we don't need to have as much protein in our diet as most people think. Shouldn't be more than the size of your own palm.

When people get to the mushie stage, what is wrong with just buying baby food. It's the right size portion. Like, I hate cooking and was considering this option. I am hoping for a november band. I find out on Tuesday.

I considered that option but find baby food to taste gross. I tended to cook up a big pot of something mushie then put it all into 200ml containers and freeze it. With 2 or three different options in the freezer, dinner was just a matter of a quick microwave and voila!

There's nothing wrong with it Justagirl, but like Fanny, many people just hate the taste of it. Just remember, baby food is formulated for babies, so won't have the correct balance of Vitamins and such, that an adult needs, but certainly you can have it if you want.

I dont know about all the other mothers, but after 2 children and years of baby food for the kids, just the mere smell of it, is enough to make me heave, and that definately cannot be good for banding.

Maybe that's what it is. I'm not a mother so I don't really mind the idea. I tried the 'baby food' diet back in the 80s, before Hollywood had heard of it I think. From what I can remember it wasn't bad and you can get the organic stuff now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
