Gracey 7 Posted October 30, 2008 Gadget, I keep waiting and waiting for the outcry, as Obama's socialist tendencies are uncovered, but.......silence. Either people are apathetic, or stupid (or like the appeal of a socialist government, I guess). Plain - I really do hope you are not painting all liberals with the "stupid" paint brush. My undergrad is in poli sci and I have an MBA. As I have stated numerous times, we are electing a President, not a dictator. The fact that Bush's approval numbers are in the TOILET, I think it's "stupid" to support someone that's voted with Bush 90% of the time. Of course, if Cheney had it his way, the President would've been dictator with the Congress and Supreme Court as mere secondary annoyances. Clearly, Cheney ain't much for the Constitution either. Gadget - with your often and longggggg posts, how do you make time to also teach children? I'd be too wiped out to do all that research.
ReadySteadyGo 8 Posted October 30, 2008 Gadget, I keep waiting and waiting for the outcry, as Obama's socialist tendencies are uncovered, but.......silence. Either people are apathetic, or stupid (or like the appeal of a socialist government, I guess). I'm not reading that crap anymore. It's so one sided. Give me something unbaised and I might go further than the first paragraph. That is extreme left or extreme right. I'm tired of it. McCain isn't Satan, Obama isn't the Devil. I enjoy reading others opinions, especially if I can learn something. I haven't been involved in Politics for that long, and I do think I have a lot to learn, but I won't read propaganda anymore. (For both canidates) I'm not stupid, or anything else, I just don't have the energy or the time to try to prove someone wrong, or even to show another side of an argument, to someone that has such strong, deep deep deep beliefs and loud opinions, like Gadgetlady. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it makes it hard to debate someone, or learn anything from someone like that. I have too much stuff to do and not enough will or patience to go forcing someone to change their beliefs, It is a full time job with not a lot of actual productive results. Can we PLEASE vote now? *counting down the days*
luluc 6 Posted October 30, 2008 Either people are apathetic, or stupid (or like the appeal of a socialist government, I guess). pretty sad, the continually name calling. doesn't allow for proper debate & is quite unnecessary.
Coffi 0 Posted October 30, 2008 "Well, now we know why Barack Obama’s been so reluctant to have symbols of this country associated with his campaign. No flags on his airplane. Nix to pins on his lapel. Not inclined to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem. After all, it turns out he has a problem with that other slightly more significant representation of our nation, the United States Constitution. Just as he tried to prove to everyone that his patriotism was demonstrated by the lack of symbols of the United States, so he is now arguing that his passion for the Constitution is demonstrated by his commitment to shredding it." Well duuuuuuuuuuuhhh...it's cuz he's a terrorist! Anyone with any sense could see that...geesh people! And on top of everything else...he hates America...I am sure of it. NOT! Ok, so to be patriotic we all must have flags and pins and red, white and blue and place our right hands over our hearts? Sooooo, if I pray with my eyes open and head raised, or hands not folded...does that mean that I am not Christian...or wait, maybe it means I am Muslim...that makes a lot of sense to me. gadgetlady 4 Posted October 30, 2008 Either people are apathetic, or stupid (or like the appeal of a socialist government, I guess). I think it's a failure of education, of a true understanding of what our Founding Fathers fought for. Many people just don't see socialism as the freedom-killing disease that it is. gadgetlady 4 Posted October 30, 2008 Plain - I really do hope you are not painting all liberals with the "stupid" paint brush. My undergrad is in poli sci and I have an MBA. As I have stated numerous times, we are electing a President, not a dictator. The fact that Bush's approval numbers are in the TOILET, I think it's "stupid" to support someone that's voted with Bush 90% of the time. As the article pointed out, this has nothing to do with Bush. It has everything to do with Obama and his disregard for the American Constitution. Gadget - with your often and longggggg posts, how do you make time to also teach children? I'd be too wiped out to do all that research. I didn't write it. I just read it and posted it. My children are doing just fine. Thanks for your concern. gadgetlady 4 Posted October 30, 2008 I'm not reading that crap anymore. It's so one sided. Give me something unbaised and I might go further than the first paragraph. I agree that the first few paragraphs are unpleasant; I debated not posting them, but wanted to keep the entire article intact so decided to do it. But I did bold the important stuff so people could skim and still get the meat. Here's the most salient thing: Because this Harvard-educated lawyer then announces that the United States Supreme Court when headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren, was “not radical enough,” in its pursuit of civil liberties, because “t didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution.” If this has not stopped you dead in your tracks, either you don’t understand, or you’re already dead. What Obama is doing here is expressing his opinion that the Court would have better effectuated his definition of “political and economic justice” if it had been willing to ignore the limits placed upon it by the Constitution. Donna113 2 Posted October 30, 2008 Here's a fun and exaggerated version of why I voted for McCain (gotta love early voting - will never wait in line on election day again) *'Twas the night before elections* *And all through the town* *Tempers were flaring* *Emotions all up and down!* ** *I, in my bathrobe* *With a cat in my lap* *Had cut off the TV* *Tired of political crap.* ** *When all of a sudden* *There arose such a noise* *I peered out of my window* *Saw Obama and his boys* ** *They had come for my wallet* *They wanted my pay* *To give to the others* *Who had not worked a day!* ** *He snatched up my money* *And quick as a wink* *Jumped back on his bandwagon* *As I gagged from the stink* ** *He then rallied his henchmen* *Who were pulling his cart* *I could tell they were out* *To tear my country apart!* ** *' On Fannie, on Freddie, * *On Biden and Ayers!* *On Acorn, On Pelosi'* *He screamed at the pairs!* ** *They took off for his cause* *And as he flew out of sight* *I heard him laugh at the nation* *Who wouldn't stand up and fight!* ** *So I leave you to think* *On this one final note-* *IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM* *GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!*

Gracey 7 Posted October 30, 2008 The GOP ticket's appalling contempt for science and learning. - By Christopher Hitchens - Slate Magazine Finally, someone has the stones to articulate what is really at stake. Down with anti-intellectualism!!! "...This is what the Republican Party has done to us this year: It has placed within reach of the Oval Office a woman who is a religious fanatic and a proud, boastful ignoramus. Those who despise science and learning are not anti-elitist. They are morally and intellectually slothful people who are secretly envious of the educated and the cultured. And those who prate of spiritual warfare and demons are not just "people of faith" but theocratic bullies. On Nov. 4, anyone who cares for the Constitution has a clear duty to repudiate this wickedness and stupidity."
gadgetlady 4 Posted October 30, 2008 unfair & offensive. i'll tuck my PhD under my ass, while i attend law school in Jan.....so uneducated that i am.... I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about the general public. Most people don't understand basic economics. Yes, there are some people who are socialists because they truly believe it (Obama comes to mind), but there are some who just get sucked in because it "sounds good" and they've never been exposed to the problems with it.
