WHY are people voting for McCain?

OMG! Oh and I think using religion to promote violence is wrong no matter what religion it is just to adress your post "plain."

Rosie said it, not me.

Rosie said it, not me.

So bringing her thoughts to the forefront was saying what???? Are you saying all the women on the view on wrong and Hassell is right? I mean what was your point? Please clarify.

I'm glad you can find humor in all of this gidget I mean gadget.

Cute. Never been said before () but cute. Yes, I find humor in a lot of things. But I often find humor in statements that go right over people's heads.

You missed my first one, but I am so glad you didn't miss that one!

But I guess by your response you missed both.

Yup, that's what I'm saying.

Plain, you must be anti-American. Truly, you believe that ALL the women on the View are wrong except for one? How is that possible in a democratic system? Surely if someone is out of sync with what everyone else believes, he or she must be wrong. After all, when I watch Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, they always agree with each other -- which logically means they're right, right?

Just in case there were any doubt about the View,

Yup, that's what I'm saying.

Elizabeth is a little crazy...but every single woman on the view is crazy. I can't stomach that show. I watched it long long ago, before their fame led them to believe that everything they say is really really important.

I mean way back in the Lisa Ling days (I think that was her name) when Star Jones was still pretty and single and they hadn't learned to hate each other yet.

Before Rosie O'Donnell went on the show I tried to have some kind of respect for her, but watching just a few episodes I was like "eeeh".

I really can't stand anyone who gets on their high horse about every single frickin issue. Be they liberal or conservative.

And just for your information I have never called Bush the devil where any of you conversatives could hear. What I say when your not around...that doesn't effect you.

 I love it!

OMG Hasselbeck just said that she was introducing Palin over the weekend somewhere. My idea of hell.

I must state again about the Presidential election - we are electing a President; not a dictator. McBush and Obama can say what they want to do all over everywhere; doesn't mean it will come to fruition. The notion of 4 more years of Bush is just too frightening esp with Palin a "heartbeat away." She doesn't know what's going on in her own state (uh charging Alaska per diem when she works from home? excuse me?). She surely doesn't know what's going on in the contiguous 48 much less the world! GAH

I have to love the anesthesia fog - the main reason I meant to post was to say that I love Whoopie. I think she's very balanced and will look at each side like I do. That's all!

I will admit that I don't watch the view very often (no, seriously!!). But from the clips I've seen (on such reputable shows as The Factor, and The Soup) Whoopi is far from balanced. When John McCain was on, Whoopia asked him if would appoint a strict constitutionalist to the supreme court. Then Whoopi asked if she should be worried about being a slave again. What a dumb-ass. I wonder if Whoopi knows that the only (and it's pretty nebulous) constitutional provision for slavery was that it couldn't be outlawed until, something like, 1808 (help me out here history buffs and constitutional lawyers).

I know I'm kind of an idiot, but some Hollywood celebrities crack me up when they try to be all politically intellectual...

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
