I hope his grandmother rests in peace and gets to smile down on her grandson as he becomes the next president of the united states.

And did you tell that child that she had another child growing inside of her and that even though she didn't like the circumstances that she was in, to get rid of the "problem' would be a sin and unpleasing to God according to his word? Did you tell her that even though she would have to sacrifice for the next 9 months, that it was what would be best for the life inside her and that she could give the child to a wonderful couple who longed for children and couldn't have any on their own?

Patty, Steve was sharing something from his pastoral duties. None of us were there, so it's a little disingenuous to be critical of what he said or did not say. Remember that Jesus will be all our "public defender" when judgement day rolls around.

Go into the hills in East Texas and say that. It happens more often than you might think.

Hey, I'm from there! Be careful in dem hills.....*"dueling banjos" plays*

Personally, I firmly believe that religion should be kept out of politics. Not everyone believes in your God and not everyone wants to see our country being run based upon what a bible says. Besides, there is that whole separation of church and state thing!

Well.....The government shouldn't promote a particular religion. However, all our current laws are based in the Judeo-Christian tradition (like it or not). I do not want to be a totally secular nation, like France....where the government is so afraid to even utter the word "religion" that they have, at times, become totally impotent. Heehee....I said "impotent".

FURTHER MORE!!! I did not "PICK" to be who I am. I do not choose anything but to accept myself and love myself and do no harm to others.

I treat people fairly, I donate to charities, I gave up my time and my little bit of money to the shelters during both Katrina and Gustav. I care deeply for everyone around me.

I haven't failed at anything in life. I have a wonderful family, an amazing, intelligent partner, I am an English Major (obviously I take more time with my grammer and spelling at school), I paint, I sing. I am proud of who I am and what I have accomplished in life.

Well, I'm crushing big time, even though I'm a dude. You are a beautiful person, RSG.

I consider myself a religious person. I also have a brother that is Gay who I love dearly. I do not believe in Gay marriage in the traditional sense. Vows under God should be between a man and a woman (imho and how I was raised in the traditional church). I DO believe in a civil union and rights for gays and lesbians. This view really tears at me. In this big world, we could only be so lucky to find someone that we love and that loves us that we want to spend the rest of our lives with. If that person happens to be of the same sex, is it wrong? It is not right for me, but I pray that my brother finds someone that he loves and respects and that can do the same for him. Even if that person is another man.

Ditto. I have lots of lesbian friends. To me, Marriage is more traditional. A civil union, with all legal rights of marriage, is ok by me. I'm not being discriminatory......I'm just a traditionalist.

I am not "right", "left" or anything else. I abhor politics and all the fighting that has erupted as a result.

Now, had she personally attacked someone or violated an LBT rule, yes, I would have done my "little moderator thing". However, she stated her feelings about people who disagree with her lifestyle and the types of hatred and discrimination she has to tolerate as a result. I applaud people when they stand up for their rights and was pleased to see her enter this particular thread and do so. I applaud and respect people who respect others rights to be who they are and what they are and don't pass judgement upon them. I respect people who understand we are all different and that is what makes this world such a wonderful, interesting place to live. I respect ReadySteadyGo for standing up for who she is and her right to respect, dignity and freedom to live her life in the way that best suits her and makes her happy.

Damn, Susan, that's some good moderatin', there! Well done!

I hate to change the topic, but did you hear that Nostradamus predicted McCain to win?

That is soooooooo funny. I tell my wife all the time that "Nostradamus predicted (insert anything here) when I want something".

I can't understand why we don't use fingerprints in our election. Wouldn't that help eliminate voter fraud and keep felons and illegals from voting? They have computers that can read fingerprints.

Love that idea. You could even "ink" a print on a card to vote absentee. Of course, it would mean that the government would have a database of all registered voters' thumbprints. Nothing wrong with that, I guess (in Texas you give 'em your print when you renew your DL), but the libertarian part of me kinda cringes at that thought.

I have worked in Child Protection for almost 20 years. I have seen how the democratic system works (or doesn't work). In my 20 years I have come across 1 family who had a member in the job force. Here where I live there are jobs to be had especially in agriculture but do you think any of my clients are willing ? It is far easier to live off other peoples hard work and handouts through other charities than to get a job. I am tired of the same old way of doing things, the system is setup the enable the dependents of a welfare system that needs a huge remodel. So with Obama more money will be going to this group of people. Do some have a hard time...sure, down on their luck....sure, do children's welfare need to be a priority...sure. But I am talking about generational welfare. Take from the rich (and not so rich) to take care of the poor...I don't think so. I'm voting McCain/Palin.

It always seems in a family when someone dies a baby is born. Maybe in Obama's case he will be born as the next President of the United States.:D

Wow! I made that post this morning,(pg 34) then left for work and now i'm back and see that I have offended many. I want to apologize. It was not my intent to hurt anyone in anyway. I was simply stating my reason for voting for McCain. I have a single authority that governs what I believe and how I make my decisions in life, and that is God's word. I understand that not everyone believes that there is a God,and that is your right, but I do.

I want you all to know that I don't hate anyone. Both my sister and her son (my nephew) are gay. I love them both with all my heart. I did not call anyone an abomination. This is how GOD feels about humans of the same sex having sexual relations with one another. He hates the sin, but He LOVES the sinner. If he didn't love the sinner, He wouldn't have given his only son to die for our wrong doings in life. And to answer someones past question, God didn't make homosexuals. He made men and women. Men and women make their own choices on who they want to have sex with. ( Just like God didn't make overweight people,(the sin here is gluttony) He made men and women. Men and women make their own choices on how much food they put in their mouths.) He hates the sin of gluttony, but he loves the sinner(you and me).

I am not against anyone who wants a civil union. I just don't want what God calls marriage to be changed.(which is between a man and a woman) .

I am so sorry if I offended you in any way. I am simply stating that I will vote for McCain because , in my opinion, he and Palin have a higher moral character than Obama does.

Being gay is the same as being overweight. It's a choice?

I bet you sister and nephew love knowing you think they chose being gay and were not born that way. With a family like that who needs enemies.

I am going to throw this out there. This does not go for every gay person. As I mentioned, my brother is gay. I also have a cousin that is gay and a close friend that is a lesbian. My brother and my cousin were molested (by the same man). My friend was brutally raped. I also have a younger cousin (different side of family) who is gay and, as far as I know, he never was abused...it was obvious at a very young age that he would be gay. So, are people born that way (genetics), do they chose to be that way, or are there circumstances that make them that way? Here is something I learned a long time ago...Why would someone "chose" this lifestyle? It often causes issues in the family, discrimination, is frowned on by their faith...etc..It is not an easy lifestyle when your parents threaten to disown you.

Being gay is not the same as being overweight, except that they are both sinful. Like I said, God loves the sinner and hates the sin. Both my sister and her son do not feel that I am their enemy. They love me as much as I love them.

My sister was married to her husband for 26 years and had 2 sons together. One of them is gay. When they got divorced, she started seeing a woman and is still with her. That is her choice. She knows that I side with God and what He says on the issue of homosexuality. I do believe though, that every human being CAN decide who they will or will not have sex with. If you have 'feelings' for the same sex, it is your choice to be obedient to God and refrain from that act or to do as you choose to do.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
