watermelon seeds 0 Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) Ur right it is so hard! im goin out of my mind i see the dr 9/24 so maybe he will do a fill Hey CKelly, I was also banded on the 8th but I was on liquids for 3 days and then day 3-14 I am on pureed foods. Those darn hunger pains are terrible, I could not believe how tough they were those first few days. Now I am eating chicken noodle Soup mushed not a lot of noodle because I know that they swell up but plenty of broth. I've had applesauce, and plenty of oatmeal which is what I mostly want every meal just because It goes down smooth and I don't seem stopped up at times. I actually just found out today that chili at Wendys is on our pureed menu WOW!!! It's a long road but it's so worth it,especially if you went through surgery to get to this point. I keep reminding myself of that one important thing so that I will stay on track. Stay Strong! Can I add you to my contacts since we were banded the same day? incipientesquire 0 Posted September 17, 2008 I was banded on the 8th as well and I had the same pangs when I'm not hydrated ... Just hang in there & remember why you're on this journey ... Stick with it!
ktaylor08 0 Posted September 17, 2008 I was also banded on 9-8 and I feel the same way. I usually eat dannon yogurt for Breakfast or cream of wheat, Soup for lunch and dinner and in between meals I drink my Protein Shakes. I know if I don't drink my shakes I'll be starving. momcof3 1 Posted September 17, 2008 I feel for you. I just finished my 3 week full liquid diet yesterday and started my 2 week pureed diet today. Although I had one packet of oatmeal for breakfast and 1/4 cup canned chicken breast pureed with mayo for lunch, my stomach is growling fiercely. After the two week pureed phase I will be on the semi-soft phase for 5 weeks. egads. I have my first appt on Oct 6 but no guarantee I will get a fill - the nutritionist said not everyone does. Don't know why she was trying to ruin my day.
PDG777 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Hi... was banded on the 19th August... for the first 2 weeks tummy grumbled and groaned - in fact it was so loud I was embarrased at work - however - I was not at all hungry.... so divided the feelings... a) I just felt full, and  my tummy did not believe me, and was constantly on the lookout for what it was missing. Sounds funny, but it sort of made sense... I am not having my first visit until Mid October... tummy settled down after more grumbling and bad gastrics... and I am still not hungry - my tummy still grumbles but not that much any more... I still don't think it believes me but has settled down. Don't know if that will help.. but it certainly seems to be the case with me. Good Luck... and Hang in there.... themis 0 Posted September 17, 2008 I agree on the Protein Drinks. I was fine when I had my Atkins shake. Also Cream of wheat, thinned out a bit was a huge help. I practically lived on those two alone. Another thing is Lipton Cup-a-soup, creamy chicken is pretty good and real easy, just add Water. I went through a box of those in like 2 days! sugar free hot chocolate might help. Also, if you have a favorite herbal tea... mine is cinnamon and spice. I use a cup of skim milk and put the tea bag in it and microwave it. I saw it on a cooking show! It's pretty good. Hang in there! You'll do better when you're on mushies.

amandalc4184 0 Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) I was banded on the 11th and I know feel the same way. I saw my doc yesterday and he said I can move up to full liquids for a week and then onto pureed foods. When I got home yesterday I had oatmeal and then went to the store and got some yogurt. I've had some today but I'm still hungry I have to wait until 10/21 for my first fill and I'm worried that it's not going to get any easier. cr8zycrafter 0 Posted September 17, 2008 I too was banded on the Sept. 8th and experienced the growlies! I am really confused on how much (or how often to eat). I felt like I could eat all the time and I am trying to watch the calorie content as well. I want to heal properly but when your stomach is growling it makes it hard to concentrate anything but your stomach.
Wheetsin 714 Posted September 17, 2008 If you can, drink something with Protein, even if it's just a Protein Water. Proteins satisfy hunger longer than other food types. I didn't have a 3 week liquid phase, mine was like 2 days, so this isn't sarcastic if it comes across that way, but can you just drink more? I ask that because when I feel hungry (even pre-op) I could drink and satisfy it for a period of time. Do you get any relief from drinking more? Hang in there, soon (probably) your stomach growling won't phase you in the least. Now it's just another sensation. But pre-op, and soon post-op, it sends you into a sort of "must eat" panic mode. You will adjust/adapt.
srknepler 0 Posted September 18, 2008 My stomach growling brings along nausea sometimes...anyone else have that problem? If I get to that point, then the shakes and sugar-free popsicles/jello just seem to make the nausea worse.
