Okay- I'm Fading

Recommended Posts

I first should start out by saying I have been very positive about this experience. BUT the heck with that right now. I'm complaining for the first time.

I'm 6 days out and I'm tired, back hurting, pains in sternum area and just bascially a little bummed out.

Back pain feels like a pulled muscle. Weak I'm sure from just have propel Water and broth for 9 days now. Dag gum stomach pains, etc. Would love to belch but that's not happening I can tell.

I'm taking all my Vitamins and drinking Protein Water.

I can't even begin to think how I will eat mushies Thursday. It takes all I have to get 3 oz of water in a hour. (sometimes I don't)

Anyways, this has got to get better. It does get better right?

Yes it will. I am 4 days postop. I have found that drinking hot tea really soothes my tummy. I also find that when I feel really gassy, I lay on a bunch of pillows tummy side down, and then I walk around. Sooner or later the gas begins to come out! I also sleep pretty propped up in bed, I find that if I lay flat, I become very uncomfortable. Good Luck! Feel Better Soon! :)

Have you tried drinking plain cold Water in addition to the Protein water? For some reason the water goes down easier for me than something flavored. Probably some of your symptoms are related to dehydration. I am 4 days post op and tried this yesterday. Today I feel human again. Hope you feel better.

Oh, you sound like me. Everyone responds differently and your getting a little more discomfort. To this day, nearly 1 year out, I can not burp. That may or may not change for you. Some people get a lot of gas, or heartburn, indigestions, etc,,,,which causes gas. If you can't burp, it causes pressure up under your ribs, and limits the amount you can eat or drink. Tip #1. Gas X Strips, or Mylicon drops. When you drink your Protein Drink or broth, take one of the strips BEFORE or use the drops. It helps break down the gas before it develops. Also, some peoples stomach reacts not in a friendly way to the band. (mine) It swelled a LOT! I was soooooo tight, band completely unfilled, I could hardly drink. And unfortunately you can't unfill an empty band. Ways to reduce swelling,,,,,,,,,,sip ice Water. Much like icing a sprained ankle. I eventually had to do 3 days anti-inflammatories to reduce the swelling. That's not normally recommended for band patients but my Dr. felt it necessary, and it worked. You may be taking a little longer for your body to recover and adjust to the band, but it WILL happen! Hang in there, and in probably a week, or less, you'll wake up and be doing stuff in the house and realize your eating again, feeling better and life is good !

You completely described me.

I must have a lot of swelling because it kills me to drink 3 oz in an hour.

All I can do is wait it out.

I am doing the gas x strips and tablets. (extra strength) lol

Try Fennel Tea - a nurse in my doctor's office who had been through the procedure recommended it. It was lovely - soothing and helped the gas go away - not sure how - probably magic!

I was banded on August 13 - for about the first 10 days it felt super tight - restrictive - but I was able to drink without too much difficulty. I think the heat of the tea helped as well.

I go for my first fill tomorrow - am looking forward to having more restriction. While I still feel some I know I need more.

Good luck - you'll be great!

How much Protein does the Water have in it. When I had my surgery done in June I was sipping on a Liquid Protein I got at GNC. It has 30 gm of protein in 3 oz. So, I sipped on those over ice 3 times per day so I would get 90 gms of protein each day. I know everyone is different but if I don't get my protein I feel sluggish and tired. Are you taking your Multivitamin? The Vitamins and protein are so important.

Day 6 was when I crashed also, I started to feel weak and shaky and grumpy beyond belief. Once I moved on to full liquids the addition of a little substance to my diet made all the difference in the world. You say you move to mushies thursday, can you not have full liquids before that? I'd recommend calling your doctor and telling him how you feel. Such low intake for a full week is hard on the body, some can take it better than others, he needs to know so he can possibly allow you a little more substance so you will feel better.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
