nvlou 0 Posted September 16, 2008 I am 66 years old and I am just starting the process. I have a psych eval, and a Nutrition eval, on Wednesday. I actually started this process a year ago, by going to the seminar. I am a medicare ins. I was told it takes about a year as they only do a certain amount of Medicare. Then they called me and I went to see the Dr. last week. I have lost 44 lbs since last January. I am not sure why, but a year ago in July, i had a total knee replacement, then in October I had surgery to repair a c3-c4-c5 in my neck, and ever since they have healed up, no more pain, and a heck of a lot more active. I will keep you posted as I hope to continue on with this process.
Shamrockgirl60 1 Posted September 16, 2008 Welcome to the forum. I am 60 and just had the surgery and am so very happy I did it. I feel great now and am losing 2-3 lbs. a week, I go in for my first fill this coming Friday. Best of luck and it takes a while for all this but it's worth it. And you are doing great with your weight loss Wow, 44 lbs.
PATCHELTON 0 Posted September 16, 2008 Congratulations on your decision. I am 63 and had surgery 3/25/08. I jumped in feet first to the process, and am exercising (mostly walking) and eating better. I never would have been able to do this just dieting. I just had follow up bloodwork and am now off 2 cholesterol drugs, one of my blood pressure drugs (the other may follow later) and my reflux medicine. My doctor will send me in a bit for a sleep study to see how the apnea is doing (gone I hope). I have gone from size 22W to Misses 12-14. I walk in a park near home and feed peanuts to the squirrels. I refer to them as my personal trainers. I also belong to Curves and do my resistance training there. I wish you all the success you have coming. Remember, the band is a tool, not a magic bullet. It helps with Portion Control. You still have to choose to eat healthy. If you do, and exercise, you will have an amazing journey.
nvlou 0 Posted September 17, 2008 Thank you so much for the support. I am a little worried about the psych evaluation. All I can think of is what if what if, they don't think I am a good psych risk. I have never been to a psychiatrist. Louise
