Weird, sharp pains when I eat...

Recommended Posts

When I start to eat, I am experiencing sharp stabbing pain in my right, lower area, right next to or above my ovaries....I don't know how far the stomach goes down but I don't know if this is in the lower part of my stomach or intestines? It goes away after no eating...no pain at all when I woke up this morning or after I ate my eggs but after I ate a couple of strawberries, it's stabbing me... anyone experience this kind of pain or have any ideas... I thought maybe an ulcer? I don't think my band has slipped because I can eat and hold down food like normal....any ideas?

Your stomach sort of runs across the bottom of your ribs, the top of your stomach is on the left side and the bottom is on your right. Your gallbladder (if you still have one) is on the right side and since your pain is related to eating that may be where your problem is. Rapid weght loss can cause gallbladder disease.

How far post op are you? I had mine 9/12 and the worst pain i have had is exactly on that area. Mine is not related to eating, since I'm still on liquids. Do you have any history of Diverticulitis? The strawberries have seeds which may cause you some problems if you do. Just a thought and if it continues I'm sure you'll discuss with your surgeon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
