Hey ya'll. Got a slight problem here. I have been having some pretty bad abdominal pain for about a week now. It isn't constant and stays in 1 place when it comes. It is like below my bread basket and over to the right. I am thinking it is gas pain, but Gas-X isnt helping, walking doesn't help and I have even tried rocking from side to side and back and forth and this isn't working either. When I went for my fill today I spoke to the nurse about it and she (like me) thinks it is nothing more than gas. Any ideas of what I can do to pass this gas. I can't get it out and this pain is driving me nuts. Oh yeah, it hurts more when I get up or have to walk around, if I am sitting or laying down, it doesnt bother me.

Hello, I was banded on Sept. 8th and I only had very minimal amount of gas pain but, when I did get up and walk my gas would then come out. I'm so sorry about your pain and I can't believe that the doctors office did not have any ideas. When I was in the hospital one of the nurses said her husband had the lapband surgery and she said that he tried laying on either side and it helped to relieve some gas. I don't know if that will help but I hope that you feel better.

Do you have your gallbladder? It maybe gallbladder colic.

gas pains should not last longer than 2 weeks after your procedure. I was told that gas-x and pain medications will not help if the gas is stuck in the tissues. If you have problems breathing, seek help immediately.

How do you know if the gas is stuck in the tissues? If it is stuck in the tissues, how do you get rid of it then? (I'm struggling with gas pain, bloating pressure, feeling too full, and shoulder pain from gas).

I honestly don't think it is gas pains that I am experiencing. I have a good friend that is a RN and she said that it may be a gallstone. I am hoping that it is something different, but I am thinking a gallstone also. The RN at my surgeons office also said that there is a chance that it is a gallstone also. If the pain I am having isn't any better by the time I put the kids to bed tonight, I'm going to have my husband to take me to the ER to get checked out and get my mom to watch the kids while I am gone.

Can you link it at all to what you've eaten? E.g. do you feel the pain (period, longer, more intensely, etc.) if you've eaten a fatty meal that day? Does it "flare up" at night? Etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
