Hi everyone. I had surgery 9/4 and I am doing good. No nausea or vomiting. The gas pains are more or less gone after day 6. I had my 1st followup last Friday and the doctor is allowing me to move up to soft foods. I was on a liquid diet day 1 to 5, the mushies for 2 weeks, then soft food for another 2 (I believe). Starting this Friday, I can eat anything.

Has anyone been able to move on to regular foods this fast?

I wish. I'm so sick to death of mushies already i could SCREAM. I want to go back to that Atkins type preop diet but can't really have chicken or fish yet. And to be honest the thought of eating pureed baby-food consistency fish makes me want to PB or something. Ewww!

lucky you!

Hi bloom. I was banded on the 4th as well. Lucky for me, I didn't have the dreadful gas pains.

I was on full liquids the day after surgery for a week. I'm on mushies for two weeks, and then on week four, I start real foods.

I see my doctor tomorrow for my follow-up exam.

I am glad that everyone is doing okay. Kis I guess you are like me with the gas. I had some but not serious pains like everyone else but I am glad that I knew what to expect from the people on this site. It's better to prepare for it and not have it than to not know anything and to think your dying ha.

Congrats everyone

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
