speck 1 Posted September 15, 2008 Good Morning Everyone, I tried to start my Water around 8:30ish and wow did I have bad pains in chest. Here it is 9:30 and still a problem. Also, I drink room temperature Water and not cold so that should be better. I am going to switch to warm chicken broth and see how that goes. I'm just curious if anyone else has that pain early in the morning? My last drink was around 8:30ish last night so I hate to go 11 hours without fluids. luluc 6 Posted September 15, 2008 early on i did peppermint tea, which loosened things up in order to stay hydrated. i have to start the day w/warm liquids (cup or 2 of coffee or tea), otherwise i'm a bit tight to eat my Breakfast - but it's not "pain", you could still be swollen from surgery.....just take it slow & try some tea. lovegrapes 0 Posted September 15, 2008 My band is super tight most mornings and Water hits my stomach like a ton of bricks. I just wait it out.
realmccoy 0 Posted September 15, 2008 You will hear that a lot on this web site, it isn't uncommon to be tight in the morning (internal swelling from laying down). I have been very tight in the AM for a while. It takes me about 2 hours to drink 1 cup of coffee. I am just used to it now and I start drinking a ton in the afternoon. After 2pm I am good to go! Cheryl Ann 2 Posted September 15, 2008 I'm having a heck of a time lately with my medications. My birth control and hypertension pills aren't much of a problem (they're pretty tiny, and the bc pill is even chewable), but the Prozac! I've just been upped from 30mg. to 40 mg., and while I thought swallowing three 10 mg. capsules was a pain in the neck, it turned out to have been easy compared with the single 40 mg. capsule. I don't know what I was thinking, but I somehow imagined that this one capsule would be the same size as a single 10 mg. Wrong! It's much bigger. I think I will need to change my morning routine a bit, and keep these downstairs in the kitchen, to have after I've been awake for a while. Although I have been swallowing my pills with warm Water in the morning, taking them right after I get up -- which has always been a good time for me, in terms of remembering to take them -- I think I will have to get used to a different routine. This morning I was hit with a horrific wave of nausea. It was the Prozac dissolving in my esophagus and coming back up into my throat. I didn't just PB; I vomited violently and repeatedly. It was awful. I felt bad for my kids having to witness that.
Bea1128 1 Posted September 15, 2008 I can't eat or drink anything until I've had something hot. Luke warm doesn't work for me. I drink a cup of coffee or two as warm as I can get it without it burning my mouth. I've tried Water first thing before too and I too had pain like food was stuck. I also gurgle like crazy if I try anything other that hot liquids. I'm tight until about 10 a.m. and then I can go about my day as normal.
hvnagdtme 0 Posted September 15, 2008 My morning routine ALWAYS starts with a cup of hot tea, coffee, or cider. After finishing the hot liquid, I move on to some semi-watery grits. The slow progression prepares me for the day, and there have been many days that I skipped the hot liquid and grits - which caused the rest of the day to go terribly. Before surgery, I never was a big breakfast eater, so this has been a huge difference to me. But the schedule makes a difference in my ability to eat for the rest of the day. Plus, if you eat breakfast, you're less likely to feel hungry before or at lunch. I've talked to many people who have tightness in the morning, so don't worry that it's just you. marthie66 1 Posted September 15, 2008 I couldn't drink Water at anytime of the day for the first three weeks! It gave me severe indigestion! I can now drink about 8-12 ounces of water before indigestion hits so I drink the Special K20 Protein water for the remainder of my liquids.< /span>
speck 1 Posted September 15, 2008 I've been looking for the Protein Water but haven't found it so far. (kroger & Walmart didn't carry it) Right now I drink Propel Water. I've had about 1/2 cup of broth in the last two hours. Doing ok. Maybe it's the way I'm sitting at my desk today but I get this awful feeling like I need to burp but can't and it is so painful. (took gas x but nothing)
LissaLou75 0 Posted September 15, 2008 I found the Special K20 Water at Wal-Mart on Friday. It was in the pharmacy section by the slim-fast and Protein powders. Hope this helps.....
marthie66 1 Posted September 15, 2008 About the burping, for the first couple of weeks or so I had trouble burping like a normal person! I would stand up and bend forward at the waist and it usually worked! I still have a little trouble but I can burp like a real person now, too! And, check Wal-mart again for the K20 Water, it's not usually with the bottled water, I found it with the crystal lite and kool-aid!

Brandy~ 2 Posted September 17, 2008 Well this is my main complaint since having my last fill. I cant drink cold things in the morning or it wont go through my band. If I continue to sip knowing its not going through then I will pb and slime. It only took me a few times of realizing that Water was a no go at 5 am lol I am going to try having a cup of tea. Normally I just wait it out.. However, I would rather be getting liquids in so Decaf tea it will be! Thanks. I get up around 520 am and it takes till about 930 before I can attempt to eat Breakfast as it is. Even then I can only eat about 1/2 what I normally do. By afternoon I am good to go tho and graze alot to make up for the missed morning calories.
MicheleK 8 Posted September 20, 2008 On a side note, I'm not even banded yet and I hate cold Water first thing in the morning. I imagine that won't change after banding, lol.
illinoishusker 0 Posted September 20, 2008 Ok so if no liquids are going through, no food is going too, correct? This is a worry of mine b/c I teach and I worry about the food part. If you can't drink anything, are you feeling like you are starving?
