Ohhhhhh :( Hi Everone!

Recommended Posts

Hii :cursing:

My name is Nieka, I'm new to the site since about a week ago, I've been looking around and reading all the amazing posts, also joining in a bit. I thought I'd wait until I saw my doctor until I officially said Hellloo!

About me :( I'm 18 years old, I weigh 105kgs and I'm 168cm tall. I've been overweight since forever. I've tried dieting, exercising, eating healthy, EVERYTHING! I've thought about the lapband before, but now that I'm 18 I feel like I'm old enough and really ready to get this done. I am a very shy and self conscious person, and I feel that it is due to my weight that I'm like this. I feel like I can't really be who I am inside until the weight is gone. It may seem shallow. But I know that people view me differently and won't take the chance to get to know who I am on the inside because of how I look on the outside.

I recently moved from Tasmania to Melbourne, and it really made me realise that I need to do something about myself. I need to make myself happy so that I can be who I need to be!

So today we called up the place. Dr. Ray McHenry. BUTTTT!! It's going to cost $3800 and $5200 up front. I know it's not alot seeing as some people pay $10,000. But I'm at UNI, I work only three times a week because of UNI and I don't think I'll be able to afford that so soon, especially when I had my heart set on getting it done this year. GAHH! Stressful!

Is there anybody from Melbourne, Australia that has had it done cheaper?

Anyway. Thankyou for listening. Hope to hear from you soon.

Much Love, Nieka x

Good luck with everything. 18 is a great age to consider it because you are young and have a lot to look forward to with a new, healthier and happier you.

If there is a will, there is a way to get this done . . . and it does sound like you are ready to make a go of it. Once you are out of UNI it might be easier if you can get insurance to cover it from your future job.

I hope you will join us bandsters very soon . . . we would love to have you in our group.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
