How do you know if your band slipped

Recommended Posts

I felt really sick yesterday. I could not stop the pain and forced myself to throw up maybe six times in an attempt to feel better. Today, I am having pain on my side. How do I know if my band has slipped. Does anyone know what it feels like? I'm a bit panicky now. It is not a bulimic thing. I ate a small amount of chicken but it just would not go down. Thanks for any advice.

I recently slipped. I was in the worst pain in my entire life, couldn't stand it. I mean I would rather have children again pain. I couldn't even keep Water down. It was horrible. I hope you have not slipped. Is there a chance a recent fill is just too tight?

thanks for the info. I only have a slight nagging pain on my left side. I am sticking to liquids but they go down no problem. Hopefully, i'm ok. I think I'm sticking to fish and vegetarian life style for a bit.

Hey Boo,

Did your band "unslip" after unfilling? If so how long did it take? Had my first fluro ever last week and they said band slipped. They unfilled me and tole ne to get another fluro in a week. No liquid diet. Seems too easy to me.

MY band slipped during my port replacement surgery, 3.5 weeks ago. SO I am still unfilled. A week does seem too simple, they want me to wait 4-6 weeks. Only 4 because they know me and I didn't want to be empty 6 weeks. BUT I am doing ok on it! :tt1:

My diet chick told me you would not be able to hold anything down

and you would vomit alot. She also mentioned a large weight loss per week.

I have been having sharp pain in my lower right side of my stomach while I eat but it goes away after awhile, then comes back occasionally.... not sure if it's something serious or not but it doesn't stop me from eating and I'm not throwing up or anything..anyone have this?

I guess I got "lucky" :crying: . I had another upper GI 8 days after unfill and guess what?? I became unslipped. I am soooooooo relieved. They will start the refill process back up in 5 weeks. What a wake up call. It all came about from becoming to tight and then trying to ignore it hoping the weight would speed up. WHAT A DUMB THING THAT WAS. I learned a lesson and got a second chance. My new motto is "Respect The Band".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
