Got my 2nd fill, What the H*ll Happened

Recommended Posts

Okay I got my 2nd fill last tuesday. Following my first fill I didn't have much restriction. Only difference I had was that the band was extremely tight in the morning. Now since I've had my 2nd fill, I actually feel nothing at all. No restriction, no tightness, no nothing. What is really going on. I contacted my doc on Fri and I was told if I didn't feel any difference by Monday, I should come in to have the band checked to make sure the Fluid that he put in is still in there. OMG, please don't let me be one of the few with band problems. Has anyone here ever experience anything like this? Help Help:crying:

I know how you feel Yettia. I've also had 2 fills and feel no restriction. I have had to control my amount of eating on my own. According to my nutritionist I should be full after 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food. I can and do eat 2 cups with ease. Aside from my initial issues with weight gain I have steadily been losing. Have you found you are losing weight anyway?

yes I have been loosing. during the 2 weeks following my 1st fill, I lost 4 pounds. I was very shocked because during that time I'd evacuated with my job during Hurricane Gustav. Just let me tell you, there was nothing low carb high Protein in their, lol

Well I do have an appointment on tomorrow with my doc, so hopefully everything goes well.

I just had my fourth fill today and I really just started feeling true restriction two weeks ago. I asked my doctor and she said that is normal. Some days you will feel more restriction than other days, but it takes time to get the right amount of Fluid in your band. Everyone is different, but just thought I'd share. You are doing good, so keep up the good work. I know it's hard to be patient, but once you get to the "sweet" spot, you'll see the results you want.

Hey thanks you guys for the support. I went to the dr today he removed the Fluid to insure that it was all there then he went on to add 1cc. I am now up to 4cc's. I hope that I begin to feel restriction. He said that from here on out he will put less than 1cc in the band if I need another fill because a little makes a big difference now. So I am excited again. I will keep ya'll posted to let you guys know if I am feeling restriction.

I did not feel real restriction until my 5th fill. I felt restriction a day or two after the other fills but they did not last too long. My most recent is the most effective one I have had so far. My doctor is conservative though (.25cc or .5cc at a time). This time I talked to him about being more aggressive and I think this is what they call the "sweet spot" - You are doing well so far and you will get to your "sweet spot" soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
