I think overdid it

Recommended Posts

Banded Wednesday, healing fine (I think).

The 4oz suggesting serving size for full liquids hasn't been filling me up.

I've bumped up most servings to 5-6 oz, with no problems.

So.....

I'm super hungry tonight - went to the grocery store today - figured out that Cream of Wheat is farina. Thinned farina is on my liquid diet list. So I made one package of the instant kind - used 1/2 cup (4oz) of milk to cook, then a little more milk to thin it out after cooking. It was SO good. I ate it all. Now I don't feel good - I think I ate too much. I didn't throw up, didn't PB (still don't know what that stands for, but I think I know what it is). I burped quite a bit though.

Question is, how do I know if i did any permanent damage to the band, my stomach, etc?

You won't know. I'm shocked you are already on "full liquids"...I wasn on thin liquids for a week (no Protein even) but if your doc says you can have it and you thinned it per directions, you should be ok. Could you drink it through a straw? If so, you were good. And honestly it should have just poured on through...you don't have any restriction yet.

PB means "Productive burp" and it's when you get a mouthful of food stuck and it comes back up.

It likely would have gone through a straw fairly easily - maybe a little too thick.

Thanks for the definition of PB.

My doctor's regimen is Clear Liquids for day of surgery (or hospital stay), then full liquids for week 1.

Then you're fine. Use the straw test if in doubt!

I was banded 8/28 after 3 days I was eating a lot of egg drop Soup. It was so good an filled me up because of the protien in it. I can eat everything. I am 2 1/2 weeks out I have had a few bites of pizza. a garlic knot, sushi rolls., baby hot dogs ,turkey salami but I am only taking about 4-5 ounces. I get stuffed easily. a few bites of chicken. It's fine and I am down 19 pds since the surgery-Elisa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
