So what happens if you pop a port stitch?

Recommended Posts

Today marks the one week mark since I started having port pain. I went into the Dr last week (Mon) and he said that I probably pulled the muscle it is stitched in to. Well it still hurts to bend over or be too active and it is burning, stabbing pain. I'm going to go back in tomorrow morning. What do they do if you do "pop a stitch"? Does this mean I will have to have surgery to fix it?

I'm not sure what they do if you "pop a stitch", but I do know that when you pull a muscle in your abdomin it takes a LONG time to heal because you are almost always using them...it takes time.

Hey Zeama I just wanted to ask you if your stitch problem with your port went away. I ask because for almost 2 weeks now I have been having the same pain whenever I move or twist in a certain wait I get sharp pinches and pain around my port area and fear I may have pulled a stitch or something. I was just wondering what happend in your situation? Did it ever heal on its own or did you require revision surgery? Thanks in advance. :rolleyes2:

Well you have had a operation whether its keyhole or not, you obviously have been doing too much strenuous activity and pulled inside... you must rest and not lift anything and take regular painkillers 4 hourly..1 week is early days too much too soon take it easy!:rolleyes2:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
