Feeling Very Sad

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site and I have enjoyed reading what others had to say. I do need some answers concerning the band. I had mine done May 22 and have lost thirty pounds. My concern is: I think this is too slow and I've had three fills. I am scheduled to have a fourth fill on the 25th of this month. If I have this fill done and it is too tight, what side effects will happen? I must admit that some days I don't feel hungry, I don't eat or I will eat something like mashed potatoes and green Beans. Here goes the excuses! I work and stand on my feet my whole shift and walking is done alot on my job. I have RA (rheumatoid arthritis ) very badly and when I get home I go right to bed because of tireness and hurting. When I get up and hour and a half later, I cook for the family and so exercising is out for me. A few times I did force myself to ride the bike I have, pain and all! Could this be why I'm not losing more weight? Anyone have any quick recipes I can put together so I can eat and still lose weight. I do try and get my Protein Drinks in each day. I know potatoes and green beans is too much and I need something else to eat, but it just seem like a quick fix for me being so tired. Please help! Barbara 48

It's been 16 weeks since your op and 30lb in 16 weeks is at the top end of the optimal weight loss rate of 1-2lb per week. I don't think you should be sad at all - I think you should be celebrating! That's a great achievement, especially in the first months, when you are still working on getting restriction. If you aren't struggling hard with hunger and are resorting to soft slider foods on occasions (like mashed potatoes), I think the last thing you need is another fill. Try eating more solid fibrous foods (lean meat, fresh vegetables). These will fill you up and let you eat reasonable quantities and lose weight at the same time. It takes a LOT more mashed potatoes than steak and salad to get the same feeling of satiety and will cost you in calories and slower weight loss.

Just think - in another 16 weeks, that 30lb could easily be 60lb and won't that be great? I was just about where you are at 16 weeks (actually a little less, I think - 27lb?) but over time it all adds up! This is a marathon, not a sprint, and if you stick to the plan, you'll get there eventually. Exercise does help it to come off quicker. I'm a bit erratic about exercise myself - sometimes really good and then sometimes really slack. This is probably why I'm sitting in the middle of the loss range for my month group, rather than leading the pack as are the ones who put the extra effort in. I'm cool with that though - I planned on at least 18 months to get to goal and I'm pretty well on track for that...

Celebrate your success and good luck in your journey!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
