Okay. Have a few questions... I had my surgery on the 3rd of this month so I'm almost 2 weeks out, how long did it take the tape to come off and if it still wasn't off how long did you wait until you took it off? Any sugestions on what to use to get that sticky tape goo off? I still don't have an appetite...is that normal? I hope everyone is doing well where ever you are in your journey to get that weight off!!! We are on our ways!!! lol. ;)

My steri strips, if that's what you mean, all fell off within 10 days. The goo from the tape? It's almost impossible to get off. I bought some stuff online and it didn't even work. Someone said baby oil and IT didn't work. I just scrubbed away at it with a shower sponge every day and eventually it was all gone.

You should have gotten some post op discharge instructions and on there it will tell you how long to leave your steri strips on.

Adhesive comes off with nail polish remover or Simple Green. I promise! I did a sience experiment on it ages ago!

I may try the simple green, but I don't think I'll try the nail polish remover thoug...my incisions are still tender and I would hate to get that on them. ;) Thanks for all the suggestions :)

I'd leave it on as long as you can. I made the mistake of taking mine off after about 7-10 days and part of the main incision popped open a little a few days later. It didn't come open far but enough that that half of the scar has healed to be thick and obvious, whereas the bit that didn't pop is a nice thin line.

Nail polish remover did not work for me. I know it works on super glue because I glued my hands together once! (LOL) but...not on this stuff.

A clean, soft eraser used very gently works amazingly well on the sticky adhesive.

Baby oil does work. Dab some on and let it sit a bit to get into and under the adhesive. Then gently wash off.

We used this to remove tape residue from athletes as athletic trainers in college and we used it to remove the horrible sticky adhesive dressing some use to get show cattle ready for the arena (especially to "do up" their tails). I used to get soo sticky, the spray can would have to be pryed from my hand.

Baby oil didn't work on mine I bought some special. I dabbed it on I let it sit I tried pouring it on I let it sit 15 minutes No joy.

Alcohol pads didn't work either. Lighter Fluid MIGHT have worked but I drew the line at that flammable stuff. I ordered "allkare" adhesive remover for $20 It didn't work either. BUT over time, it finally wore off.

I had medi Patches covering the steri strips, so I kept replacing the patches which were waterproof. I kept replacing them for 4 weeks until I removed everything and all the incisions were perfectly healed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
