Hey everyone!!! I can't wait to see you all on the 11th! I have a TON of clothes to share. Most in sizes 22/20 with some others thrown in. As they get too big on me I pull them and bag them up. I will be bringing them to the meeting. If anyone has any size 18/16 pants or size large shirts I could really use them. I have hardly anything that fits to take me into cooler weather.

On another note... For those of you interested there is another bariatric fashion show coming up on the 12th at Macys Easton. This time it's hosted by Macy's and Fresh Start Bariatrics. It's going to be in the furniture section on the 2nd floor at 2pm. There might be someone you know walking the runway :cursing:

Sorry I've been so quiet lately... we finally found a car for my daughter last weekend and prior to that almost every spare moment was spent car shopping... it will be a long while before I want to do that again!

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again this month. This time I have a date for my surgery - Nov. 24th. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

And a shout out to all the men out there thinking about attending. Join us and I can assure that you won't be the only male there!

If anyone is still in the early stages of getting approved or losing and is in 3x or size 28-32, Personal Message me here and I'll bring some clothing items on Saturday to share at no cost. I need 22-24's as I'm losing below my 26's now.

Hi, all -

I'm looking forward to seeing you all again this month. I am in need of inspiration. I'm such a flunky that I'm struggling with the first month of my 3-month supervised diet (through Fresh Start Bariatrics at Riverside.)

See you tomorrow!

Fondly,

Christy

Boy, it's been a long time since I've been able to make a meeting with you guys.

I WAS in Columbus though today...got to go to the OSU game! So much fun. I hope sometime to make it to meetings in the future. Maybe when winter hits I'll have less going on.

Hope everyone is doing well and having fun!

~Carol

I am new to this site and scheduled for banding on Wednesday by Dr. Myers at Fresh Start. Is there a group specific to Ohio or to Columbus on this website?

BTW, I am very nervous about the surgery and what will happen so any encouragement or "good" stories would be helpful.

Thanks.

Shawn

Hi Shawn, You've found the USA Local Support Group - Ohio subforum of Lapbandtalk and yes, there is a Columbus thread on it. We chat up a storm from different perspectives with those of us from Riverside's Fresh Start, Mt. Carmel's, OSU, Barix, or even self pay bandsters in the area. Welcome!

We also get together once a month at Polaris Mall. Keep an eye out under the Ohio Subforum for info about the November meeting. HeatherA is from Fresh Start's program and she keeps us organized.

Bookmark this as a Favorite if you'd like to take you right to the Ohio subforum.

Carol and Niki - we did miss you yesterday but each month we seem to add new faces so this little informal group is such a blessing to me. We had a lady named Kenna join us yesterday from Barix and she is having her surgery on Tuesday a.m. so say a prayer and keep good thoughts for her. We answered lots of questions for her and I hope didn't scare her too much with our stories of being stuck or restricted, etc. but at least she knows what real banded people really do day to day. She asked each of us, would you do this again or do you regret it and we all resoundingly said we'd get banded again in a heartbeat.

Take care.

Carol- Loved getting home in time to watch the 2nd half of the game on TV --so jealous you got to go to the game in person at the horseshoe!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
