Hi Everyone,

I am considering my lap-band in India at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. Has anyone had thiers done there? Thier cost is only 6,200.00 USD, compared to other facilities in Thailand, Phileapeans, and Malaysa which varied from 9,500.00 to 14,000 USD. I am a U.S. citizen from Chicago Il, But I am out in the Pacific on a job assignment between Hawaii and Guam.

I am also a self-pay. I am looking to do this in either March 09 or June 09 depending on vacation schedules. I am about 100 lbs over weight, and have been big all of my life.

Thanks,

Robb

HI,

The reason for India at this time is because I am alot closer to India than Mexico, I am on job assignment in the Marshall Islands, which is near Guam. So, India is closer, and cheaper to fly to from here, compared to Mexico. Mexico r/t 3k, New Delhi r/t 1700.00

I'll ask some people at work and get back to you. (I work with a lot of people from India and they often get medical and dental problems taken care of when they go back for their yearly vacation.)

Do you have the name of a doctor to check out as well?

well i am an Indian so i got banded in India ... i will highly recommend it ... but i recommend sleeve gastrectomy to band as that will require minimal follow up ...

Come to the sleeve section of LBT (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) and we can talk all about sleeve vs. band. :bolt:

I just got mine two days ago and I'm SO HAPPY.

Anyway, I thought I had posted here before I left for the hospital, but I guess I hadn't. The people I work with are not from the Delhi area directly and had to ask around to people they knew back home. They said that hospital is very popular and, while maybe not the top one in Delhi, was one of the top 3. They thought it would be very safe for bariatric surgery.

They also said India is a great place to go for arthritis and joint-related treatment. Not that this is relevant here but I thought it was interesting.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
