Hi everyone,

I'm awaiting a surgery date and doing the pre-op diet. No so easy but i'm sure happy to be in this place. I have waited so long for this and even changed jobs to one I don't really like but had the right insurance to cover the surgery. Just wondering if anyone else got kinda blue on the post op diet? Does it get easier?

I feel the same way about this new job i've been at for the last few months. I'm glad to be working in a time when unemployment is so high. But I need the better insurance to get my surgery. Thats what keeps my holding on.

I have to tell you the hardest part is the pre-op diet and the first month after surgery. The liquid diet is very hard after two weeks. Some doctors require 3-4 weeks of liquid. After the mushie stage I found it so much better. Now 4 1/2 months out food isn't really a big deal anymore. I still eat pretty much what I did before only alot less and I am fuller for hours longer. Good luck to you.

Hi ATL38, yes i know what you mean about the job scene, so I can't complain too much. The good news for me is my old job wants me back asap so I probably will resign after the surgery and go back to my other position. I feel kinda guilty doing that and my intention wasn't to do that I actually have tried to like the new job but I don't. Well good luck on your surgery date and this dreadful preop diet

Thanks Sueaz that makes me feel so much better. I was so weak and felt fuzzy in my head for the first week. Now I'm at day 10 and it seems to be getting a little better. It helps to hear it from someone who's been there though

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
