Forcing yourself to PB...fingers and all

Recommended Posts

I have developed a BAD habit of forcing my self to pb by making myself throw up:redface: I know its horrible. But i dont do it often and i only do it when i know i am about to throw up (at least t hats what it feels like)

i dont get stuck often but ive been reading on the boards how some people try walking around, tea, etc and i just force myself to throw up. Could I be damaging my band or is it better to wait it out and give food a chance to pass through ???

i've read that the one of the causes of a slipped band is vomiting too often. i would try to see if what ever was stuck might ease its way down...but even before that...make sure youre chewing until its mush! eat SO slowly, drink something warm BEFORE you eat and make sure you eat every 3 hours, so that you dont get hungry and eat ravenously.

Yeah, you can definitely be causing damage and I would not recommend you continue. It could cause your band to slip and then you would possible have to go back in for surgery to put it back. It's not worth it! Try to wait it out. Sometimes I feel like I can't take it but the pressure quickly subsides as I walk/jump around and I will hold my arms straight in the air.

Yeah, you could be really be messing with your band. Throwing up can cause your band to slip. I might suggest seeing someone about it. A nutrionist, your doctor, or even a psychiatrist. This could be a bullimic kind of thing. I mean this in the best positive way. But sometimes you get used to a habit, and don't really know why you do the things that you do,don't really want to anymore, but something keeps making you do it. (personal experience) Hang in there, Susan:thumbup:

I was banded on August 21st, although I am only 3 weeks post op I have not PB yet, and I really don't want to. I know this is the number one reason that the band slippage occurs. Maybe you need to analyze how much you are eating, so you never get to that point of PBing, maybe you need a little unfill, just some suggestion but I would not recommend continuing what you are doing for you sake, don't want any complications.

I understand what you are talking about.

I handle it this way. Rare pb's occur to all of us. If I am so stuck I am sliming and afraid to move away from the toilet then I just bend over from a standing position over the toilet and it will slide out with no additional effort either on its own or with a slight cough. This only speeds up the inevitable, but doesnt force it.

However, if you are triggering your gag reflex by inserting your fingers. This is a very bad sign. What makes it even worse is that gagging causes your stomach to heave which can definitely put you at risk for slippage. If it is not occurring on its own, you dont want to make it happen.

Also, most of us did not get on the banded path by not having food issues. It is very easy to get in a habit of eating too much and then relieving yourself. After banding, it doesn't take much effort to get to where you want to pb. You don't want to get into a binge/purge cycle because it is not healthy and can be extremely damaging.

If you want to keep your band, don't do it. Just imagine if you had lost your band because of it today, would you want to go back in the past and tell yourself to do something different? If so, for your own health and well being, stop now.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
