Aussie_Lass_NSW 0 Posted June 19, 2005 My dietician had it on the list of stuff I can drink. I've been drinking it no problems (was banded 31st May) and have found no problems with doing so. AL_NSW
Alexandra 55 Posted June 19, 2005 All caffeinated beverages are potentially irritating to the stomach if you're sensitive, I think. But lord knows, I couldn't live without coffee.

porclndoll 0 Posted June 19, 2005 Gotta have the coffee!! I put in reg sugar and fat free creamer...I think I have given up enough to be able to enjoy coffee the way I like it. May be a bad attitude, but the weight is still coming off...........
j.s. 0 Posted June 19, 2005 I was told no regular coffee until 3 months out. I have been drinking Decaf (with a little reg. coffee every once in a while as a cheat). I think the decaf is a cheap fake and really want to get back to drinking regular coffee, I have promised I would cut back. Before banding I was drinking a pot a day, columbian dark. My mouth still waters just thinking about it. I am hoping at my July appt. he will let me have my coffee again. j.s.
the best me 6 Posted June 19, 2005 No problem with coffee! Gotta have it. However, when I was first banded, I sipped coffee on days 2-3, then added V-8 on day 4 and, I believe, all of that was too acidic. I began having trouble with reflux, PB's, swelling and got myself into a big mess early on with being too restricted due to swelling. If I could go back, I would lay off the coffee for at least a few weeks, if possible. Or I would keep the coffee and drop the V-8. Just be careful in the beginning and listen to your body. Otherwise, look forward to a happy life WITH coffee after banding.
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted June 19, 2005 coffee is actually REALLY hard on the ol' tummy....VERY acidic. I gave it up a while ago and am surprised that doctors are saying it's okay. It's really hard on the tum plus caffeine.
La_madam 20 Posted June 19, 2005 Got to have my coffe too! My Dr. says I can have coffee
KarenB 0 Posted June 19, 2005 I was told coffee is fine as long as you had no acid problems prior to banding. If you had reflux leading up to banding, you should avoid coffee.
