:thumbup:I think it means when you fell the restriction. When you cant over eat because the band is finally tight enough to get you full with little food for long periods of time. Guud luck tomorrow!!

I'm not sure either, and i've had a band 3 years.

People describe it as losing weight steadily at 1 to 2 lb per week on half a cup of food per meal.

The only time I was restricted to half a cup of food per meal my band was tight enough that I found life very restricted, eating pretty miserable, I felt shocking, was undereating and had no energy. It was definitely no sweet spot for me.

Its different for everyone. You will probably have many good fills, where you reach a level you're really happy with, lose weight well and eventually it will loosen off and you will need to go find that level again with another fill.

My advice would be not to listen to what others eat, how much they eat etc. It only makes you worry. If you are losing weight on two cups of food at a time, then that's what's right for you at that point in time.

The sweet spot is a very personal level of how well the band is working with you. It's not about how much your band is filled, or even how much you eat.

The doctor considers how much weight, on average, you are losing per week, AND your report about how long it takes you to get hungry again after a meal. This is how they determine whether to fill you up a little more, or let out some. When you are losing 1-2 lbs a week, and are not getting hungry for about 4 hours after you eat...then you'll be at your sweet spot.

It may move around as you lose more and more, since eventually you will want to stop losing that much per week...or at all (won't that be nice!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
