Hi,

I am going to Mexico on June 21st. I have only told one person about my surgery, I dont know if I am embarressed, ashamed or what. All I know is that I am so excited I cant sleep. My heart is constantly racing. Does anyone have any advice on what I should bring that the dr. hasnt told me.

Thanks

Hi Rachel. Who's your doctor. My adivice is PACK LIGHT. You will have to take that stuff with you back to the airport. All you need is a book comfie jamies or sweat suit, & wear on the plane back what you wore there. Slippers. Some people bring an extra pillow for when they cough post-op. I didn't have one & didn't need it. I travelled alone (my husband couldn't come cuse of our kids & I hadn't told my mother yet),not that she would have been any help!. I was totally fine by myself & went from NY to Tijuana. I made friends there that I am still in touch with. Feel free to PM me. It's coming up soon, & you will do great!

Thanks for the advice. I am going to see Dr. Sanchez in Monterrey. Only 2 days left. I see how much weight you have lost, and I am so happy for you. I am at 235, so just about the same start weight as you. Did you have your fill in TJ also, or did you do it locally, also how long did you wait?

Thanks,

Hi, Rachel - I'm going to Monterrey for banding on July 1, by Dr. Sanchez too. Just wanted to say good luck!

I hear great things about Dr. Sanchez.

I do not think you have a thing to worry about ,but as others said, pack light, maybe take along some GasX and liquid tylenol for the flight home.

Michelle's right, I did forget about the liquid tylenol & gas-x. Absolute necessities. And yes, I did go back to TJ for my 1st fill. Feel free to PM me if you'd like. Best of luck and let us know how you do.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
