Lap Band on THE VIEW

Recommended Posts

WHO was the Women on the networkk CNN maybe?

She was an EX NYC COP

100# now look great health legs Ok etc

Great Show

Tink in La

Yep, that's her. See what I mean? The band isn't getting any more interest, just this one person's story is circulating all over the place. It would be great if this publicity will inspire smaller media outlets to look locally for their own bandsters to profile, but in this time of conglomeration it's much more likely that the one person will do all the shows and nothing new will get said.

Phooey.

I'm not ashamed of my surgery, maybe the fact that I couldn't control my weight, but I think if Starr had the surgery she owes it to her viewers to be honest and admit it, then move on with her life. I think she's an incentive for others, not something she should be ashamed of, JMO.

The NY Times article revisited. sigh. Nothing new, no scoop on Starr (who I guess I hadn't seen in a while because her weight loss surprised me! She's lost alot!!) The only real Lap Band comment the gal got in was that you can gain the weight back because the pouch stretches...huh? Granted, she didn't get much of a chance to explain but you are MUCH more likely to gain wieght by eating around the band and not following the bandster eating rules (no Water, protiens first, etc) than by having a stretched out pouch.

I'm a bit dissapointed.

Hmmm... I saw a SPJones posting here asking about band slippage. SPJones, is that you? Okay, I'm just kidding so no getting mad at me... but... you never see both of them in the same room at the same time.

Nothing to write home about! There were two ladies...one who had gastric bypass and the other had the lap-band. They didn't get into how the band works at all. They basically just talked about how their lives have changed. Not informative at all. In fact they were on for maybe 5 minutes.

P.S. I thought that Starr Jones had the gastric bypass!!! I am 99.9% sure she did. They had mentioned it a while ago.

hmmm, SPJones "says" she's from the Durham NC area. This IS the internet, so one never really knows...I mean, is my REAL name really Kathy? I always wonder who is really out there. If I were famous, this is the FIRST place I would come to for anonymous support. Of course, if I were Starr Jones, I doubt I'd make my screen name SPJones...:)

Funny story; There was this girl that I talked to for a long time online. We were pretty good online friends, and then one day she disappears. After 2 years, the other day she pops online and says hi to me. Then divulges that this whole time she's been a guy named Anthony who was trying to escape from reality, and he's really really sorry.

Anybody can hide in the internet. :)

Creepy!! So is this guy now in some type of 10-step recovery program, and he's on the step where you have to go and apologize to the people you have hurt? Why after all this time must he confess? Will you continue to talk to him? I know a guy named Anthony...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
