Lap Band on THE VIEW

Recommended Posts

A Lap-Band patient will be featured on the television show "The View" on Monday June 20th. It's about time the Lap-Band gets some well deserved press. Don't forget to watch!

The chances are high that my TV, if on, will be showing Blue's Clues or Dora the Explorer or The Backyardigans...

Is The View on ABC, CBS, NBC?? I'll go set the timer on the DVR. I know it starts at 10am here, just need the network and I'm all set to record it, no matter what's playing!

Thanks, can't wait to see it!

Is the patient going to be Starr Jones? (Or whatever her name is?) She's lost a lot of weight and as far as I can tell has been cagey about how she did/is doing it. Wouldn't surprise me if she came out of the bandster closet on the show.

Alexandra.....I was thinking the very same thing! Starr Jones has been cagey about her weight loss. Actually, she is one reason why I don't plan on making my lap band a secret. Monday's show should be interesting.

Someone please confirm, The View is on ABC network? It's set to record! Thanks for the head's up, Michelle.

I, too, wonder if ole Starr is going to come out of the closet. I know she has been hush-hush about her weight loss. Joy became a Jenny Craig? spokesperson and talked alot about her weight loss on the show, and Starr was determined NOT to discuss the personal side of that struggle on national TV. Can you say, "CAT FIGHT!" wroooow! hiss hiss

I hope someone will post the "news" here for those of us who are TiVo-deprived! I'm VERY curious to hear how the band is presented on the View.

Oh, and yes, it's on ABC.

I wonder if Starr Jones is quiet about her weight loss because she does not want to fall into that Oprah syndrome, where everything in her life is about her weight. I'll bet she did have WLS to loose that much weight. I don't think anything else would have helped.

If the patient is Lisa Sohr, she's the same one who was featured on the cover of New York magazine recently, the article about weight loss surgery. You know what this tells me? Lisa Sohr has an agent. She's all over the freakin' place talking about her weight loss and how different her life is now. What do you want to bet she's selling a book?

Sheesh. There are THOUSANDS of successful lap-band patients out there, and the only ones who get airtime are the sexy ones with agents. Media whores.

Edited to add: I have nothing against Lisa Sohr herself, obviously. It's just that I have yet to see an article or show about the realities of banding. She's a looker and has hired a publicist; the publicity has nothing to do with any real attempt of the media to shed light on this amazing medical treatment.

Let's hope this will be different and they talk about the band itself and how it works. I like the fact the word is getting out about this amazing band. I do not know who this Lisa woman is so it will be interesting to see. I'm going to have to TiVo it since I will be in Tj seeing Dr. Ortiz for acheck-up and a re-fill

Thanks Alex.

("Media whores" hehe. Girl, we need to get YOU on The View! Guess we'd have a hard time talking you into getting an agent. You are SEXY, too!)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
