Yes, I'm a male so I guess that plays into my weight loss rate.

Thanks everyone...I'm extremely proud today!

Also,

I realize that everyones situation is different but I want to stress MY OPINION that if one does what is intended with the band, not only will you lose weight but you'll lose large amounts. Its not rocket science...when you consume less calories than you burn, you lose weight and exercise accelerates the process. Those of you reading this board to determine whether or not the surgery is right for you need to realize the simplicity of the band and the concept. If you do your part, the band will have your back...if you don't do your part, it will be your enemy...you decide! Take the posts where someone says they're doing everything right and not losing weight with a grain of salt.

Totally agree:thumbup:

I have done the work - it took me 1 yr 1 week to lose 105 lbs. Pple are always asking for my secret - There is no secert - it's all about eating healthy and exercising. The band makes the job of losing weight a little easier but really and truly the work is up to

The band is useless against stopping you from eating slider food..

My band is completely empty...I've never had a fill!

Stay the course and you'll be rewarded!

What awesome results! Congrats to you for doing the hard work and getting the weight off...

Though you are of the male persuasion and therefore might have an easier time losing the weight, you have given me something to shoot for! I'm a gal who loves a challenge, so I'm going to do the work and be ready for when I get my band...

Lean and strong, here I come!

Don't count yourself out because you're a woman. I am 6 1/2 months post-op and I've lost 98 lbs. It is definitely possible if you stick to the plan.

Eat2Live, congrats!

Wow . . . that is incredible weight loss! Good for you! I do feel better knowing that you are male because I lost 50 pounds in 4 months (3 of them banded), and I couldn't imagine having done it any faster. Don't get me wrong, I would have LOVED to . . . haha . . .but as it is I workout like crazy, have 6 ccs in a 10cc band, consume very small portions of mostly Protein, and never go over 1200 calories. This just seems to be the rate at which I lose. Oh well!

But again, congratulations on your success!

Fantastic, this is just what I needed to read. I start my preop diet Sunday and I'm excited and nervous. I'm nervous when I read about people gaining weight and not losing...it's hard for me to grasp that if you use the tool correctly, you won't succeed. I will take those posts with a grain of salt and I will have success! Great job!!!

Hey eat2live - with that much lost in such a short time, are you having any problems with loose or excess skin?

On March 28, I began my pre-op diet at 319lb, 474-triglycrides, 230-chol. level, high blood pressure, severe gout. I had surgery on April 11...

Its now September 11 and I weigh 219lbs, 77-triglycrides, 130-chol. level, normal blood pressure and my gout meds have been reduced by 75%!

Those of you considering lapband AS A TOOL TO ASSIST YOU in weight loss should give it serious consideration. It has been the greatest experience in my life. I have 50lbs to go but I'm snowballing downhill towards that goal.

Something you guys might find interesting, my "sweet spot" was simply the band...I haven't had a fill!

Good luck to everyone and keep working toward your goals!

What kind of meals do you eat and do you work out a lot

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
