Surgery Scars and Stretch Marks

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I have not had my band yet (going through the process), but I dooo have a couple of questions regarding scars.

I scar pretty easily (I have marks on my legs from mosquito bites from when I worked at a camp a few years back if that tells you anything), and I also have stretch marks (obviously).

Does anyone have any recommendations for ointment/cream/whatever for scar fading and/or stretch mark fading? I've seen ads for numerous brands but I've never had any experience with any of them and don't know what works vs what doesn't, or if any of them actually work!

Also, has anyone started working on fading stretch marks before losing weight? Is this a good idea, or is there any reason to wait until I've lost some weight?

Any input is greatly appreciated! :)

Hey, we are neighbors...I am in Sterling!

I scar easily too but my incisions are healing nicely. My smaller incisions are nearly gone the port incision is still pretty visible though it is healing nicely. In the beginning it was really raised and I was afraid that it was going to be much worse than it is.

Since before surgery I have been using a ton of lotion to try and keep my skin soft and pliable, my surgeons office recommended that. I am more concerned with sagging skin but have accepted the fact that I will have stretch marks.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
