vikkiann 0 Posted September 11, 2008 whats the rule for coffee? when can we have it? what about wine?
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted September 11, 2008 You need to check with your surgeon; they are all different as to "when". Did you ever get your "fluid" problem fixed or are you still just banded but no restriction?
vikkiann 0 Posted September 11, 2008 got a new band a few weeks ago
themis 0 Posted September 11, 2008 I agree with RM. You should have gotten a diet to follow, if not, check with your surgeon. The one I have allowed me to drink Decaf from day 1. I'm one of those people who only drink coffee when it's cold (which is only about 10 days of the year in S.A.) and when I'm really tired, so I didn't drink any. As for the wine, I was told when I'm on full liquids I could have a glass. I had one glass of white wine last Friday, which was just under 2 weeks being banded. Carramia 0 Posted September 11, 2008 I had lap band 2 1/2 weeks ago and I have a cup of coffee and day and I am fine. I am giving Wine a little bit longer....like maybe another couple of weeks. Good luck!
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted September 11, 2008 My doc says 3 months for caffeine, longer for alcohol. BUT you're already eating...do what you did last time! If it worked for you before it should work again.
vikkiann 0 Posted September 11, 2008 my doc says i can have caffeine.... too much acid in coffee but theyve been vague. guess i will wait till i see him and ask him. and, im not eating, im on all soft foods with the exception of eating a bite of hamburger and moving to soft foods a few days faster than i should have. RestlessMonkey 7 Posted September 11, 2008 Not to split semantical hairs but soft foods have to be digested and are "eating" LOL but either way....whatever worked for you the 1st time should work for you this time! You've btdt.
sistasassy 6 Posted September 11, 2008 From what I understand, Decaf is fine anytime. That is just what my doctor said. You should probably check with yours.
Jeni 85 0 Posted September 11, 2008 My dr. says coffee is ok.. when i was first banded he said to have a decaf.. But im now 18mths out and im drinking caffinated coffee... only proble with caffinated coffee it can increase your appitite and make you feel hungrey sooner.. so i dont drink it too often.. As far as alcohol is concerned.. its ok to have once in a while within limits "empty calories" But be careful, if your like me alcohol will go quicker to your head so youll feel a buzz faster.. And congrats on getting rebanded!!!
msampson 0 Posted March 12, 2009 Hello everyone I recently had lapband surgery. I was wondering how many of you drink coffee. Oh my surgery date was 01-21-09. A great success. I seem to be picking up in my appetite so I am ready for a fill.
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted March 12, 2009 I didn't drink coffee (or my beloved unsweetened iced tea) pre op or about 2 months post op. Now I do.
Carramia 0 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, First congrats! It's a wonderful tool! I drank coffee pretty much right away and still drink it to this day. I would try it and you will know if it bothers you pretty quick. Good luck!
