jules08 0 Posted September 10, 2008 I am new at this posting so I hope I do it correctly. Have been reading for about a year and a half while going through the process and making sure this is right for me. I made up my mind in Feb 08, that it was and the real journey began. I was banded at TGH in Tampa, FL by Dr. Murr on 9/5/08 and can't say enough about the program they have set up there. Everything went fine but what an adjustment. Having alot of trouble with gas and diarreah :scared2:. I started with full liquids on Mon. and am having a hard time eating more than 2 oz. in a four hour period with about 4 oz. Clear Liquids in between. Anyone else have/ had those issues. It' okay though I am not down about it I knew it would be difficult just would help if anyone else also felt the fullest when it was time for the next feeding. Will not make this any longer for the first post and I will be back. Thanks for being listeners out there. Julie
regang30 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Hey Jules I was banded on 09/04/08 & I know exactly how you feel. My days go good if I can get down 1 - 16.9 oz bottle Water & maybe 1 Jello cup. I have no appetite at all, but I will tell you my body sure can tell. I feel so drained & have no energy at all. I have my post opt-visit tomorrow & hope I don't get fussed at by the dr. Well I hope your days go better & if not just think this is a great way to boost your weight loss!
Lap Band Momma 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Hey guys, I'm getting banded Fri the 12th. I a little nervous but more anxious than anything. Can't wait to get it! I'm happy to hear you guys are not hungry. I was told by several people I'd might be until I get my first fill. Keep up the good work and I'm sure it'll get better each day. jules08 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Lap Band Mama, I have been anything but hungry and it does seem strange to have a hard time drinking just one ounce. Good luck with banding tomorrow let us know how it went. I was totally ready and had no doubts or nerves on surgery day as I knew this was the start of a new chapter in the brand new beginning of the rest of my life tough as the journey may be. Will be thinkig of you tomorrow!! Jules
vep911 0 Posted September 11, 2008 How long did it take from your first appointment until you actually got banded?
jules08 0 Posted September 12, 2008 From the 1st time I saw the Dr. to the time I got banded it was less than 6 wks. Where I had my surgery done you don't meet with the Dr. until all the pre req's are complete. I started with the standard 6 months of documented proof of continuous weight loss program. Once I was cleared of all that and the physical, physcological, and nutritional clearances then the surgeons office called me to set up an appt. All paperwork submitted to insurance and approved within 2 weeks and then surgery was scheduled in Aug. for Sept. Went very quick after pre-req's were done. jules08 0 Posted September 12, 2008 Update: 9/12/08 Just to let enyone know who read earlier that all of a sudden I seemed to have turned the corner with the pain. It was as if all of the sudden the pain left and my body said okay let's do this. Yesterday I felt great, was able to drink without the pain in my chest and had much more energy. I will tell you I think that a big key is to move, move, move and sip, sip, sip. You may not think you can take a smaller one but try to make the ounce at a time last. After reading on here from many of you regarding the feeling of an elephant standing on your chest and the pain in the left arm I was so releaved I wasn't alone that it was very calming. So I tried what people said who have "been there, done that", and I feel that is all it took. Moving and sipping. Thanks to all who post it is a great tool just like the band will be.
