Ah, everyone feels what they feel. But it really isn't worth a moment's more worry.

Maybe they did leave yours on. but I had surgical incisions North south east and west and they took off my entire gown, the north, just onder my brest was to get to the hepatic hernia and repair it, east for the camera west for the post and the two small "south incisions" and they strap all your limbs down arms, lower and upper legs. You were probably naked too, you just may not have been naked until you were out, I already had an IV and I was awake and talking to the docs adn nurses until they were ready to start.

I don't give a ding dong if they see my bush if I am too lazy to shave before surgery. My health is what's important. I've had surgery before though...yes you're naked...no biggie. I hate being naked in front of people not even during sex!!! But this is your life and health and you'll be under anyway and most likely in too much pain after to even think if you were naked or not or care.

I hate to be the bad news messenger, but if you can't handle being naked in front of a doctor who does not care about it and while you are knowcked out, maybe you are not mentally stable to get the band. have you had your shrink session already? maybe you can ask him/her there

Wow - that was unnecessarily harsh. I too have worked in the medical field and have unfortunately dealt with less than professional MDs. They would never do anything disrespectul in front of a patient, but when taking with other staff members, they would say things that I definitely would not want said about me. And yes, I am talking about personal appearance issues, how "hot" or unhot someone was, etc. I am only hours away from surgery and a million things are running through my mind, and yes, being naked in front of a room full of people is one of those things!

That being said, I would like to sincerely thank all of you who responded kindly and supportively. I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

All hyperbole etc aside, Scubadarz if you HONESTLY Think your surgeon would be that way, you might have chosen the wrong surgeon. That is unprofessional and unethical behavior, and if I suspected my doc of that, he'd be gone in a heartbeat. I've never encountered such activity and wouldn't ever tolerate it (but then I'm an outspoken person) I'm sure you've chosen well and your surgery will be fine and no one will look askance at you.

I was warned about negativity on this site....

Today is my very first day. I don't think I'll be back.

To those who post positive thoughts and advice. Thank you.

To those who dismissed her random concerns and thoughts. Shame on you. Everyone has thoughts. This is a person on the eve of her surgery and your making things worse by ridiculing a concern. silly...unfounded or otherwise. They are her thoughts and they are important or she wouldn't have asked.

Kudos to you scubadarz and good luck with everything in the A.M. Maybe I'll see you over on OH.:)

Scuba...Hours away from surgery? woohoo..good luck, I know I'll be stressing when I get that close too :) I know this sounds cliche..but try picturing all the doctors, nurses, and techs naked as they are prepping you, before they put you under..maybe it'll take the edge off and make you smile

I don't do too much posting..but I do read a lot of the threads on here...and everyone is very helpful and supportive, usually. This is the first thread that I read that made me feel bad for the person who asked the question. Scuba, thank you for having the guts to ask what you did. When it comes to having a bariatric procedure, none of us should think that there's a stupid question or thought..we're all in this together. I dont think any of us take time out of our day to log in here to get ridiculed or judged by someone, that's not what this is about. If you don't have a positive or supportive bit of information or input, then why reply to a post...there's no contest out there for the person with the most posts.

And they shave your stomach! I didn't realize it until it started growing back. Oh, I wish that didn't have to do that. But it really doesn't matter. My bikini days were over LOOOONG ago !!!!!!!

my apologies to you if you felt I was too harsh. Not intended to hurt your feelings. I am well known to talk directly and not around the bush. Getting the band was a big step for me and I expect results I am willing to work for no matter what I need to do to get there. What I am saying is that it is a commitment and being in your birthday suit in front of a professional team performing problably the most important desition in your life should be the last of your concerns. Look at the benefit

For the person thinking this site is not supportive or negative (titantif) , I'll debate all day with you that on the contrary, Open adult conversations such as...are supportive and meant to help us all.....

No one is perfect! I know i am not......I dream about food and I am addictive to it.......that;s my weakness!

Good luck in your procedure....I know you will wake up with a different attitude....I know I did...Now I have to keep it up!

I had a c-section, and seeing my big ole roll of fat stretched out and hung up on the cover between my head and my nether regions pretty much wiped all modesty. Not to mention leading up to the procedure where you lay down and spread 'em - my modesty is just kinda shot to hell.

I used to be nervous, but if the doctor is professional you really don't feel the nervousness at the time of surgery.

I know I was knocked out cold and I was dressed, and then I brought to and I was dressed. Whatever cocktail they gave me - I didn't care. I was in lah-lah land and I was getting banded.

Being naked is only secondary to the euphoria of getting my band. :) You'll be fine. Take a deep breath and just think: You are not the first naked fat person this doctor has seen.

If you are - get another doctor.

Should I trim down there? Can I wear my under roos? Can I write in Sharpy just above my bikini line, "Eyes on the Prize Violet!"

These seem like logical questions to me.

I'm totally stealing this idea. :rolleyes2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
