just wanted to say hi . Have been lurking for a long time Ireally enjoy the board and have gained loads of useful imformation .Was banded this week but have a question did anyone have problems with cold fluids even a popsicle hurts and small sips of cold fluids .After a few frustrating days have found only warm liquids will go down with out pain or nausea:ermm am I doing something wrong I wasn't expecting not to tolerated cold fluids,if anyone has any advise I would be greatful have a great evening thanks

lottie, sounds normal to me! Many folks have an easier time with warm liquids. Give it a few more days. It will slowly improve as the swelling goes down inside you where the band was placed. Sip tiny baby sips. I got to where I was sipping, and then swallowing the sip in 2-3 swallows. Just to keep the sips VERY small. It helped. Don't worry though. I can guzzle like a sweaty football player now. It does get better.

Hi Lottie - and W E L C O M E to LBT and to bandland!!

I agree with Kathy about taking small sips with warm liquids for a while. Noone can tell you for how long you need to do this, just listen to your body. Try drinking your Water at room temp - NOT warm, just cool room temp. Alot of times our esphogus has spasms when we drink/eat something cold - this is "normal" for the bandster.

Dont forget to mention this to your surgeon when you go for a check up!

Thanks for the advise will keep going with the warm fluids .Eventually will use the stock pile of popsicles !!!:laugh
