Greek Yogurt???

Recommended Posts

Just checked the fridge, yes its the true greek yogurt we eat.

I also love the thick set vanilla yogurt, yummm.

To me, yogurt should be something you can put on your spoon, turn the spoon upside down and it doesnt run off - it should be thick and of a set consistency. Runny stuff, ick.

Jachut, if you thought the idea of our dough in a can was weird -- have you seen our drinkable yogurt? How about the squeeze yogurt that comes in a long plastic tube? Not to mention some of the 40+ flavors that are available.

OMG, once I found Greek yogurt, I don't even buy the regular stuff anymore.

I made Blue cheese dressing with it, but using a cup of plain, 0% fat and a 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese. No one I faked out with it knew it was yogurt.

Greek is GREAT!

A little trick....

If you can't find Greek or don't like it but would like your Yoplait a little thicker. Get a large bowl and some cheese cloth. You can strain regular yogurt to be a thicker stouter version of itself!

OK, let me start by saying I'm cheap. I love Greek yogurt, but am way too cheap to pay $1.40 or more (Fage is 2.09) for one little 6 oz pot.

I make my own, and usually get a quart and a half or more of really thick Greek yogurt for the cost of a gallon of milk. And my Greek Step-grandmother in law says Greek Yogurt can be with cow milk, it's the cultures and thickness, not the animal that makes the difference.

A good recipe is Bean Sprouts: How to Make Greek Yogurt. I make a gallon at a time in a huge glass bowl, and stick it in the oven with the light on. Keeps it warm enough, and is really easy. I then strain it in a strainer with 2 coffee filters, or in a muslin bag over a bowl in the fridge. I do it in batches, and stop at different times, my husband and son like it a little thinner. And yes, I have made it with fat free milk, you end up with a smaller amount, but it's still really good. I also sometimes add powdered milk to the milk prior to heating.

You can add some honey to the milk, or what I do, heat some fresh or frozen berries until some juice is formed, cool, and put that in the bottom of an 8 ounce container, then fill up with yogurt. YUMMYYYYY:drool:

Thank you for posting that recipe! I have just started eating Greek yogurt, but found the cost very high. I have been buying Chobani fat free Greek yogurt. It is very tasty, but at $1.59 for that small tub, it is too high to have often. I will be making some for myself this week!:smile2:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
