Preop day 7

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone well today will be day 7 of my preop diet. I am doing okay. It is pretty bad when you open a can of fancy feast cat food for the diva kitty. And think it smells good. But anyway, I go today for a two hour preop class. I will weigh then. I hope I have lost some weight. I have even cooked for husband and not been tempted because I dont want to go to surgery and he not be able to do it because my liver is to fat. My surgery is next thursday. I am getting excited and nervous. But know I will be happy when I get there. I think my dh is more nervous than I am. But he doesnt want anything to happen to his honeylamb.

Keep me in your prayers, as I will you as we go this journey together. I will admit it is getting tough. But I am halfway there 7 more days to go.

Keep up the good work! I was banded on Aug. 22 but I didnt have to do the pre-op diet. All I had to do is no eating after midnight the night before surgury. It has been 2.5 weeks and have lost 20 lbs. Good luck to you!

You're halfway there - you can do it!! I lost 10 lbs. on the pre-op liquids, so I'm sure you'll be just fine. I found that chewing sugar-free gum help me get through - I just wanted to chew something and the gum really helped. Good Luck!!

Good luck to you. I had my surgery on Monday. It was really not a bad experience, I'm trying not to beat myself up for being so nervous but now that its over it really was not bad at all. I was sure I just would have a horrible experience. I only took pain meds twice. The only thing I would recommend is take in all the fluids you can. I stayed overnight in the hospital and got five liters of IV fluids and was still dehydrated. I drank fluids constantly but it just wasn't enough. I got dizzy and my bp dropped, it recovered quickly but I was still surprised. I have not really been all that hungry. As far as the smell of food goes, that will still entice you but I really didn't care if I ate any. You will do just fine and just remember to keep a positive attitude.

Good luck with it. The surgery isn't bad at all. And the Pre-op diet is the worst part of it all. I think I lost about 10 lbs that week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
