Emotional eating

Recommended Posts

I discovered, today, that I am an emotional eater! Today has been a high stress day for me and I didn't reach for a snack but I sure wanted to. I decided to just drink Crystal Light instead of eat -intake of liquids is not a problem today. I must have been depending on a little ice cream to make things better, all along. Do any of you have the same problem? It is definitely different dealing with life's little issues with food.< /p>

Most overweight people do "stress eat." It is nothing new.

I don't mean to diminish your self awareness. It is easy to say "people eat because of stress (sadness, loneliness, etc.)," it is far harder to say "I do it," and it is even harder to say "I need help."

You did good reaching for a Crystal Lite. There are many Snacks that can be helpful. I just had a sugar free fudgecycle (40 calories). It was not a bad thing.

So you're doing good. Just hang in.

Thanks for the reply. That fudgecicle sounds pretty good! I really am pleased that this band is preventing me from this behavior. Stress eating never solves anything-just makes things worse in the long run- I know that but it is almost an automatic reflex to reach for something. I'm looking for a better day today!

This has been so evident to me since I got the band. Never realized it before, but now that I am limited on the amount and what I can eat it has reared its ugly head. I really think this has been the hardest part for me. I now realize that food gave me comfort when I needed it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
