Good Luck!! I'm sure you'll do great!! I was banded last Thursday, and I don't start mushies until later this week. I've only had a twinge of hunger. I wish I could stay like this until all my weight dropped off! It's seven in the evening here, and I still haven't had my third shake today. I want to get the Protein in, but I could skip it if it weren't for that. I'm sure "bandster hell" is just around the corner for me, but for now, I'm savoring the feeling of being full with just liquids.

HI - I am being banded on 9/24. Just curious how many days you are required to be on the liquidl diet before surgery? My doctor says I need to be on a liquid diet for 7 days. My friend just had gastric bypass and he only needed 1 day of the liquid diet.< /p>

7 days is going to be super hard. I travel for business and I have some company events to do during those 7 days.

Any words of wisdom?

I was on a pre-op diet for two weeks, but it wasn't a liquid diet. I had two Protein Shakes, one fruit, one yogurt, 4 oz lean meat (turkey, chicken, etc), 2 slices light whole wheat bread, unlimited non-starchy veggies per day - (abbreviated version).

It seems there are as many diets to no diet as there are doctors.

I know it will be hard to handle a liquid diet while you're traveling for business. Best wishes to you.

Thank you everyone!

I had to be on one day liquid diet, I recommend Kellogg Protein Water, they have packets for travel! They taste good too, 5grams of protein in each serving. The liquid diet today not to bad, a lil hungry i just stayed full of as many liquids as possible (all low cal) My stomach gurgle gurgle! lol

Yea i hope that I stay pretty full off of the liquids for 2 weeks, not that i honestly ever had a huge appatite, well my body sucks and likes to hold on to anything that isnt under 1000 cals! lol..

I am excited and nervous, but I am sure I will do great and finally after all my life will actaully lose all my weight and be a thin girl, instead of the big girl!

To the person that is getting urs done tomorrow.. I wish u the best too!!

I will be on Thursday and let everyone know how I did! thanks! :woot:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
