Manatee's turn for plastics

Recommended Posts

Well, it's been a while since I posted, but nothing much has occurred. I had a followup with the doc and as of now I'm scheduled for another round of Lipo Feb 20. I really wanted the 16th, but so be it.

Full anesthesia of course, lipo and some more trimming. I'm sure that it will also require the whole draining process etc. for several months after. Feh...

There's a slim possibility that I might be hired before that point, if so the followup surgery will have to be pushed for a while.

Wednesday. I'm supposed to whine, right?

Well, I think I'll pass on that.

I am indeed really sore right now, but it's the side effect of round 2 on my Tummy Tuck. I'm very excited about the shape I see in the mirror, and this time I fully plan on holding my own instead of creeping back up. I made the mistake last time of loosening the band "to promote healing", but I instead got lazy and fatter.

Funny thing, the shape changed significantly but the weight is identical to pre-op. Next up is several weeks/months of swelling and draining and such, but if I keep my intake and exercise programs in place I should be looking good for beach season.

No pics for a bit until I can move better.

Congratulations on this round. Glad you like what you see. I am getting a revision in April to my TT, I am looking forward to it on one hand and scared to death on the other. But will be very glad when it's all done and I can look in the mirror and be happy with what I see.

Again thanks for sharing with us.

Shalee and Manatee, I've see on many of the plastic surgery threads here that many people get a revision. When you get a revision, is it an additional charge or did the original charge cover any future revisions?

Argh! LBT ate my post again!

Anyway, Shalee and Manatee, I see many people posting that they are having a revision to their PS. Is this covered in the original costs paid or do you have to pay again?

In my case, the revision was expected from the onset, and was included in the original cost.

Followed up with doc today. Stitches out, no fluids to drain, just standard swelling. 4 weeks to next checkup. Really, it's a lot easier this time since I was not split from side to side.

Are you used to your "improved" body or do you still catch yourself startled in the mirror?

Well........I think there's something wrong with me. Seriously. If I had cash or insurance I'd probably talk to a counselor.

Even though I now fall well into "normal" and I don't look bad at all, I'm still not very happy with this body. I'm just so -pissed- that I wasted all the years in the past getting all blobby and distorted. Even after the surgeries, it won't be close to what I really want.

Back to the gym next week, gotta start building the pecs and arms next.

I'm sorry you feel that way. It's been a while since you've posted pics but from what I could recall, you looked great. At this point, you probably have body dysmorphia (I think that's what it's called).

I know it doesn't really help for someone else (especially on the internet) to tell you that you look great, but you look great.

Nah, I look OK. I know I look OK. I was just hoping that after 2 band surgeries, 2 years, and 2 plastic surgeries I would look better than OK.

Media images screw with guy's heads too. But that's fodder for another thread.

Recent pic, just for you. That's a genuine A-bomb in the background :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
