Congratulations NewMe2008!

Now that you have your surgery date, start making plans for when you get home from surgery...get your food in place, make sure you have non-binding clothes, etc...

I'm sure some of the surgery veterans here will have more ideas for stuff you can do to make things easy for yourself during recovery.

You'll be a "New You" very soon! :biggrin:

ebonyrose I agree. I started nesting like I was pregnant. I bought food for my clear liquid and full liquid post op diet. I cleaned and organized my kitchen cabinets, put a new comforter on my bedand cleaned carpets. I even bought several new pairs of pjs. It all made time pass quickly plus I felt more confident going into surgery.

First, glad to see you back. I hope that you are feeling ok.

Anyway, I still have 3 weeks to go, but I have done the same thing. I have bought Protein shakes, my pre-op diet shakes, and new very loose night gowns. You would think that I was having surgery next week. I have been planning my days off from work and everything. I should be very prepared when the time comes.

NewMe2008:

You will have your date before you know it. Hope you will join me in Oct. I have my nutrition counseling Sep. 16, then I know I'm on count down.:) I've also starting getting things together for after surgery.

Best of luck.

Anne :sad::lol:

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
