Protein Shake Taste Test Results

Recommended Posts

I know we are all going to have drink Protein shakes at some point so I have been doing some taste tests. LOL

The best will get 5  faces. The worst 1 :frown: face.

The first one I tried was the Walmart chocolate brand. It is a big tub for 13 bucks. Great deal! Bad taste. I could barely drink but I gagged it down. I will probably throw it out unless someone here in the Vancouver/Portland area wants it. It gets only one  drool face.

Then I tried a couple of the Protein bullets. I had one cold and one room temp. Either way they had okay flavor. I prefer them room temp. Because when they are cold it is almost like a Jello shot and who wants to do a Jello shot with no booze?!? The Protein Bullets get :huh2::drool::drool: drool faces.

The last brand I tried is Syntrax nectar Protein powder in caribbean cooler. Oh my gosh! It is so good. It tastes just like a tropical juice mix. Of course, it has the bit of "this tastes like a protein shake" thing but it tastes so much better than the other two brands I tried. It mixes up clear. It has 90 calories and NO CARBS!! When I can have fruit again, I am going to blend this up with some ice and banana. YUM!

The nectar series comes in a bunch of yummy flavors. I bought my jug o'powder at my local Vitamin Shoppe and they ordered me the Nectar in Latte Cappuccino flavor. I can now have my "coffee" too! WOOT! The best part about the Vitamin Shoppe is they told me if I take some Protein Powder home and I absolutely hate it I can bring it back for a full refund. The Syntrax Nectar gets: :drool::drool::drool::drool: drool faces.

My pre-op diet said that I had to use Myocel (which has super slow shipping, so I haven't tried it yet) or Atkins...so Atkins it is.

I have them with a little ice and a spoonful of sf/ff pudding mix in the magic bullet. They are super yummy.:cursing::drool::crying::drool: Tastes like a milkshake!

I especially like: strawberry shake with either banana pudding mix or cheesecake pudding mix. vanilla shake with lemon or banana...and of course...choco shake with choco pudding!! Woohoo, choco overload!

Um, YUM!!!

I wish more companies would sell samples of their flavors. They would make so much more money. I want to try so many different ones but they are pricey and I just don't need 20 pounds of Protein powder. LOL

Do you like your Magic Bullet? Is it worth the price?

My mom has had the Gastric bypass for over 4 years now and i was just banded 8/22/08 and loving it. My mom and i have 1 favorite after trying several, even all her grandkids love it.

Champion Nutrition Pure whey (Chocolate)

23g Protein (per 8oz of water) , 130 Calories:thumbup:

It tastes like chocolate milk! I live near Phoenix, AZ and not been able to find a store that didn't go out of business that sells this anymore. (If you know any of store in AZ that sells it, let me know) I order it online at Vitalady.com (she is the most reasonable price!)

I LOVE my magic bullet!! I've used it every single day since I bought it. If you register your e-mail with linens-n-things dot com, they will e-mail you a 20% off coupon that you can use in the store...that's what I did.

Go to Vitalady.com - Protein supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks!

You can order samples of everything that they carry. If you are in Washington State, you can walk in and try them all for free.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
