Well, I decided I would get back on track when hubby gets out of the hospital. It's just too hard right now and quite frankly I'm in a "piss on it" mood about food. Good news is that he's coming along really well and looks like he should be out tomorrow or the next day, most likely the next day.

I don't blame you sweety. Concentrate on the hubby and yourself right now.

I think that's a good plan.

But don't stop visiting us!

I haven't posted here in a week - and for good reason. I have been eating everything - even things I don't really like. And eating lots of them. No possible explanation. None. Just have not been able to get a grip -or rather, let go of the grip I have on food.< /p>

So, it is a new day, a new Monday, a new week. I weighed, and understandably, I am up. No surprise. So I am also once again overweight according to the BMI. Again. My time in 'normal' BMI-land was very short. Damn.

I need to get back on plan, on track, and become more aware of what Im shoving into my gob. I need to refocus, re-energize, and most importantly figure out why - WHY WHY I am doing this to myself.

Tapshoes- Don't be too hard on yourself. Before you open the fridge (or pantry) tell yourself you are stronger than your cravings. If you still feel hungry, then do it, but if you don't then maybe you weren't.

Now I pledge to follow my own advice.

I love Peanut Butter.< /p>

Oh wait where did that come from?

Thanksgiving is thursday girls.

ARGGGHHH!!! A reference to peanut butter....read by a nut addict.

It's a good thing I'm at work, or else I think I'd head for the cupboard and get a teaspoon, maybe a tablespoon...who am I kidding - a cup ful of Peanut Butter and put it on apple slices, on a piece of bread, on my finger....

Thanksgiving - dear heavens, how am I going to get through THAT?!?!?

How did the rest of you do?

Horrible, but better than I was doing. It's getting better slowly. I did have a horrible episode of being stuck today. Big time PB and slime, plus heaving. I'm gonna take a day or two of fluids so i'm in fighting shape for thanksgiving.

That's right Ezman, thanksgiving is soon upon us, and IN us - we can do this; we are stronger than our cravings (*tap whimpers*)

Oh Ezma. I hope you are feeling better. I have never slimed and I have only PB twice.

I hope the fluids calm your tummy down. The two times I have PB it was rather painful.

Hugs Ezma.

Shoes- You are the coolest lady, You are going to get through Thanksgiving just fine, dear.

Well it's been an interesting month for me. I went to the doctor last Tuesday for a check up. I was up 12 pounds in 4 weeks. How the hell do you do that!?!!!! I knew it was coming, I mean, I have a scale, but holy crap. Anyway, they were so nice which was exactly what I needed. They were understanding and encouraging. The doctor wants to see me right after New Years again so I have an appointment on 1-6-09. It will be less than 4 weeks and he just wants me to try to keep the gain to only a couple pounds. Whatever it was they did must have helped a lot cause I've lost 5 pounds and didn't even know it until I weighed myself last night just to be sure I wasn't gaining too much. Yay!!!! Now if I can just get a few more off before I go back to see him I'll be so happy.

Hi Olgi....nice to see you posting. And resurrecting a thread that I was intentionally ignoring....now I can't!

There are a number of us trying to get back on track. I FINALLY have my fill appointment tomorrow...I am long long long overdue for it, and have lots of hope that it will be the kick in the rear I need!!

So, tomorrow when I get weighed at the clinic will be the moment of truth - it is the only scale I really believe to be continually maintained and callibrated properly. Then after that (and I expect a rather rude awakening), it is back to reporting in more faithfully.

Good luck on the fill Tap. It's a good thing. I keep avoiding one because I get stuck now. Not because I'm too tight but because I don't chew well enough or eat slow enough.

And yep, this is a good one to revive. I've been losing slowly. I'll drop a couple then bounce a pound or two for a few days. It's a good rate so I'm happy even though I could do so much better. Maybe this thread will help me eat better food.< /p>

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
