I eat about 3 to 4 oz a meal and don't eat between meals. I also seem to not feel up as well I am now in my 4th week and have lost 26 lb. I eat just what the doctor ordered.

Hello to all,

I'm from a small town in MS near Waynesboro. MagnoliaMiss, I work in Laurel/Ellisville area as a home health nurse. I am a future bandster as I have an appointment with Dr. Avera in Ocean Springs Jan. 24th. I almost had my surgery in Mexico but glad I waited and did more research. I'm still in the process of research and wanted to talk with someone who had Dr. Avera as a surgeon. Can you give me some info? So glad I found all of you! This is GREAT!!!!

I went to one of Dr Avera's lectures and he seemed real nice . and his place is nice also. But he also charges alot of money and I am self pay. I will be going on thursday to monterrey to have mine done. I have checked out the hospital and its real nice. the price is 8300 dollars which I can afford plus 2 years free fills w/fluoro. If I could afford to have it done closer I would but this is all I can afford. I will let u k now how it turns out. PS. I am also a nurse.

Hi Everyone,

I have a question for jjspets. You said that you went to one of Dr. Avera's Lectures. Do you remember the cost of the surgery? Anyone out there actually used Dr. Avera as a surgeon or know of anyone who did?

Hey there my name is Lee......I live in Hernando, MS-a tiny town about 10 miles from Southaven,MS

I got banded on March 28th-2007 at "St. Francis Hospital" of Memphis, TN. I have gotten 37 pounds lost so far.

I am about to get my 3rd fill on August 1st. Dr Weaver will be doing it. I've already got 1st fill of 1 cc and the second.6 cc. I wonder what the third one will be. Seems like my fill lasts 4 weeks each. I am not dissappointed--but I wish the weather was a lot better. It's been so hot riding my boke--I had to stop. The Gym here--has no daycare--so I am stuck until August 13th--when the kids go back to school. Then I'll have to crank it up again...I'm ready...Lee

Hello from the Jackson area! I was banded Jan 29th, 2007 by Dr Ken Cleveland at CMMC. We have a support meeting the 2nd Tues of each month. Also, there is a support meeting with a psychologist prior to the other support meeting,,lol. Last time I went, I was the only bandster there,,out of about 25 folks. I've seen 2 or 3 other times. There IS a Mississippi thread, under the states section and a few have posted there. Good to see other G.R.I.T.S.!!!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
