greg72 0 Posted September 8, 2008 Just joined here. Had my initial surgical consult on August 18th. Surgeon said I could probably have the surgery done by end of September. I have most of my test done, have my nutritionist appointment scheduled for tomorrow then just need to see a Mental health specialist and get an EGD and I'm ready to roll. I've been overweight for about 10 years now, morbidly obese for about 6. I've tried successfully quite a few times to loose weight but it always seems to make it's way back. My father had the lap band done and dropped from a 42 waist to a 34 in 9 months so I decided it was about time for me to go through with it. There has been a lot of Dr. appointments over the last few weeks trying to get everything done. I go to the nutritionist tomorrow, not really sure what to expect. Mrsace13 0 Posted September 8, 2008 I had heard some say they have to do a 6 month diet first and some like you that do not. Why are they able to do your so fast without any diet first. Just wondering what to expect from my first visit. Thanks
greg72 0 Posted September 8, 2008 It depends on your insurance. I have BCBS Federal, which supposedly is the easiest as far as requirements. I was quite surprised when my Doc told me I could have it so soon.

Mrsace13 0 Posted September 9, 2008 Good to know, I have B/C B/S PPO, my insurance isn't great when we have to go to the hosptial but I did get a package from them showing that as long as I was a 35 BMI with medical conditions that it would get approved. I hope I do not have to do 6 months, I'm excited and ready to get started thanks to this site.
