I think I am over-filled...but would you kindly read and advise?

Recommended Posts

Thanks in advance...here's the story:

I was filled on Thurs morning and felt pretty tight but not terrible. I was able to eat a yogurt, drink water....kept it light and easy but was okay.

Friday I felt tight but was able to eat Tomato Soup, a few crackers, some yogurt...still kept it easy and light due to the fill and not wanting to aggravate it.

Saturday I ate Soup and crackers again, but by the afternoon was sooooo uncomfortable. I think the crackers set me off. I vomited, foamed, PB's, foamed some more....you get the idea....FOR HOURS on end. It was dreadful. I kept trying to burp up some air for relief whenever I wasn't hiccupping or PB'ing or sliming......just so uncomfortable and trying to find relief.

Today - Sunday - more of the same trouble. It was hard to keep ANY Water down, skim milk, chicken broth.....really can't keep down anything.

I think I am over-filled and will call the doctor tomorrow, however why is it that I was doing better on Thurs and Fri and part of Sat but then ran into such trouble? I assume I am irritated from all of the constant heaving, PB'ing, etc? So do I somehow soothe the irritation and wait it out and try not to have an un-fill? (I don't want to lose the restriction that I felt on Thurs and Fri before the trouble started up.) Or do you think I definitely need an un-fill?

Help, pllleeeeaaaaassssseeee!!!!!

Thank you so much for any guidance, ideas, anything!!!

As you irritated it the first time, things started to swell. Crackers were probably a bad choice because they do swell as liquid hits them and then you have a slight "stuck". The irritation then makes everything tighter and it just seems to keep getting worse. Especially if you keep trying to put food down.

It sounds good to go back and get some removed. Until then, try something warm. Something like tea. Hopefully you'll feel a little better. But don't try to eat just because you are feeling better. Stay on liquids until you see your team again.

Good luck.

I agree! Call your doctor and stay on liquids! I do find that warm liquids do make me feel better when I am feeling "tight". Good-Luck to you!

I'd get some out.

DH was recently overfilled just a tad, spent a terrible night with heartburn and reflux, could barely eat and had some out the next day.. Felt immediately better, then over the last 3 weeks, his fill has really kicked in and tightened up, we were just thankful he had a bit out or he would really have been in trouble!

I agree with the others, drink lots of warm/hot things and have some removed. I had a slight unfill and it made a HUGE difference.

Ive recently gone thru 2 bouts of overfill......And had the exact same symptoms...my doc took all my Fluid out both times so my stomach would have time to heal, which in turn set me back as far as my weight loss, but it was absolutely worth it. I had the fill in for over a week when I started to run in to problems. The 1st time my doc thought it was an overfill problem, the second he attributed it to maybe a slight overfill, but also me eating something that set it off, in this case it was cold cereal...and from me vomiting I inflamed everything to the point that i just needed everything to chill out for a bit. The worse thing u can do is let it go too long, I let it go the 1st time thinking it would pass, but i got to the point i couldnt keep or get Water down, I was severely dehydrated and lost too much weight too fast......

hope ur doc can help u out......

Thank you all so much for your replies. It is so helpful to me. I will call the doctor in the morning. I cannot even drink Water, or even a teensy sip of warm broth, without it coming back up. I am sooooo thirsty and am afraid of really being dehydrated. I want restriction but this is over the top. I don't know how much of it is inflammation and how much is over-fill.....and I am hoping my doctor has a good attitude toward my returning to him so soon after my fill on Thurs. But I feel I have no choice!

Thanks, all.

If your dr. has a problem with you returning because you are too tight, it's time to find someone else. That would be too scary!!!

My nurse said something about telling if your dehydration was getting serious by pinching the skin on your hand up and let it go....if hydrated it goes right back. If there is a problem, it is slow going back to normal. You might do an google search on how to tell if you are dehydrated.....it might help you put your mind at ease or let you know that tomorrow morning is too late.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
