Stretched Pouch?? HELP

Recommended Posts

I had surgery in July and I still have an area that is VERY painful to touch or if I move in a certain way. It is right under the breast area so could be port or pouch related. I am scared to death that I may have stretched the pouch. I feel fine otherwise - no vomiting or pbs just pain in that area. Can anyone help me????? What are the symptoms of a stretched pouch?:)

I was at the dr. Friday and was told my pouch was enlarged. I have to be on liquids for 2 weeks and then be re-evaluated. I did not have any symptoms nor did they tell me what the symptoms would be. I was however vomiting but it wasn't the first time and the first time my pouch was not enlarged. That doesn't answer your question but I can tell you from experience that I do not have any symptoms. I would call your doctor, I do all the time even for what I think are dumb questions.

From what I understand - it takes time for a pouch to stretch out. I was concerned about it after 6 months of my surgery and was told that it wouldn't be stretched that soon. I'm not a professional but this is what my surgeon told me.

So there's really no sign of a stretched pouch? I worry about if mine is being stretched when I eat more than I really should. How does it realy get stretched? Eating too much to the point of hurting etc..... I mean there are days I can eat more or foods I can eat more of... Yet I don't eat until the point I'm in pain, I do feel full. Sometimes I do eat until that one bite that makes me super full yet no pain. I just know I'm done!! Can this cause a stretched pouch??? Anyone out there know more on this condition or advise they have been given from there doctor? I'd love to know more on this subject!!

Thanks

I really think you must have restriction in order to stretch your pouch.Have you been filled yet?The pain may well be that you are still healing as we don't all heal the same. Stretched pouch would allow you to eat more than you should even with restriction, so I really do not think that is it at all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
