I'm getting my first fill next week, so I'm wondering if its going to help. The past week I feel full at the top of my stomach but the bottom still feels empty and gurgles from hunger, is this normal? Will the fill help with that?

My dr said that the gurgles in the bottom of your stomach isn't hunger its digestion....you only "feel" hungry at the top of your stomach, thats where all the sensors are to trigger your brain that your either full or hungry.....I don't think the fill will stop the gurgles from happening....the fill should help you feel fuller longer...

Blonde, the only thing that concerns me is, what if you don't need a fill? If you are full up top and empty in the bottom, you must be restricted, right? Do you NEED more restriction? How's your eating going? What's your daily food intake like? Are you hungry? hmmm, let us know!

Remember, too tight is not a good thing.

I feel some restriction and get full quick, but then I feel hungry an hour later, I can pretty much eat anything but I've stayed away from starchy foods, and I've given up my Diet Dr Pepper addiction. The one thing I haven't done, is fruits, I have been putting off the grocery shopping hehehe I hate it!!!! But I plan on doing that this weekend making better meal plans.... /shrug I dunno but I feel hungry more than I think I should.

Very well said, this is exactly what I was told by my Dr. but could never explain it as good as you just did.

this is exactly why Iam going in for a re-fill. I need that switch turned off. When I was filled at 2.5 that switch was off most off the time, now with no fill, it is constantly on. It is amazing when you hit that right level of restriction, the switch goes off. Maybe there is truth to the "sweet spot"

It is so different going from 2.5 to nothing.

Watch your drinking - if your drinking at all after eating (you should wait 1 hr) it could be forcing your food down through your pouch to quickly. Just a thought.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
